If it's the stand, surround, plastic bits that are picking up dust it sounds as if there wasn't sufficient anti-static additive in the ABS they were probably moulded from. Try an anti static spray - lots on the Maplins site:

i've got the 32 samsung. Fantastiv tv. But i also find the dust a night mare.

what i do is once a day , damp a microfibre clothe. really really wring it out. so virtually nothing on it. and wipe it over. no dust prob's for me and take seconds. Also jst to add must only clean and lcd when tv is turned off.

we've had our tv for about 6 months now and i been using the method the whoel time and i'm very impressed with the ease of cleaning it.
  • We have a plasma and LCD and a microfibre cloth cleans well and collects the dust.

Thanks guys. Normally micro fibre cloth does the trick but this tv is like a giant magnet is seems to absorb dust in the air and the dust is so fine its sticks to tv, I even have dust at back of tv when I got it out of box and hevnt bene able to remove it a duster just moves it around.

This is the trouble with black items. It's the same with black cars. To keep it dust free, you'll need to wipe it over every half-hour!

I almost got a black car last Summer but opted for dark metallic green which is almost just as bad, I have to clean it every week and chamois leather it after as water seems to leave water marks on it
  • im sure i recall watcing kim and aggie on tv - and they said to keep dust off static prone things like tv screens and computer monitors, use a smidge of fabric conditioner on an almost dry cloth; wipe it over the screen/plastic and it should repel the dust.

I've got a 40" Samsung too... and a glass stand and glass coffee table and a toddler. I walk around permanently with glass cleaner and a cloth.

Anti static sprays sound like the way to go for the black surround, but be carefull. Samsung Plasma screens have a coating on the screen that can be damaged(thats why they suply you a special screen cleaning cloth) I am not sure about the LCD screens but I would think they have it too, its anti reflection filter stuff and is easily damaged with chemicals.

I have a samsung plasma with the glossy black frame but it doesnt seem to attract as much dust as you say yours does.. just normal surface dust on the top edge.. so you must have a static problem.
Is yours wall mounted or on a stand??? might make a difference (mine is bolted on a wall so is well earthed to the house)
