Asda home shopping - holding money

My recommendation would be to use a seperate account when shopping online with Asda then just transfer the correct amount of money into the account to cover the payment for your shopping.
Plus this was discussed on watchdog the other week and it appears Asda are not going to do anything about it.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Agreed...but...Easy if and when you know about it. IMHO whether it's easy or not is beside the point. Asda should have no right whatsoever...and using crap systems is absolutely no excuse...to place a hold on anyone's cash.
Like I said...the government and police cannot do it without a court order but a supermarket can. That should be wrong in anyone's book.0 -

That's not going to work, is it?
The second payment will not be authorised because all the money in the account is on hold and you just won't get your shopping. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

For your plan to work you would have to put the amount you have spent on your original order into an account, plus the same amount again incase of subsititions/out of stocks. So you're back to square one, paying double for your shopping.
If you don't put double the amount in the second payment would fail and your shopping would not be delivered, Asda would still hold your original payment as pending so you'd still be out of pocket for the next 10 days.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Don't read my post the wrong way, I agree with you. I was just pointing out it would not be difficult to fix.
Why they want to do it and !!!! off loads of their customers I don't know as they are not making anything from it, just making themselves look like they dont have a clue what they are doing online.0 -

It does work my mom does it all the time.
To be honest asda aint taking no notice so you may aswell all take your business elsewhere.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Read the above responses that state it won't work.
If your online bill comes to £50 then you are saying transfer £50 into a different account which is fine (although pointless if you think about it) however once the payment is taken, it is taken again (aside the original £50 which is now on hold) so you actually need £100 in your account to order £50 worth of shopping. Pathetic. Particularly for people on the likes of JSA that probably do not have £100 in their account at any one time.0 -
Incidentally, if the online bill comes to £50 and there are no substitutes is that initial £50 just taken therefore the problem doesn't occur?0

No worries...I'm not shouting at you...I'm stamping my foot and sticking two fingers up to asda at the injustice. The onus should Not be on the customer to unfreeze their own bank account.
