Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 24th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Bright and beautiful day here, off to take DD into school for her English Lit exam, only 6 more this week, then she is done :j

Taking little dog to the vet this morning, I think her old bottom problem may have returned, so need to get her checked.

Cold pork for dinner, with mash peas and pickle, when I get back from the vet, I need to hoover through, and clean bathroom.

Might spend some time in the garden later, depends if the rain holds off, ite been threatening for days but not happening.

Have good days all

Hugs for Daisy cat xx

Morning all, feel like I've been blown away in the night - phew - its been a VERY windy 24hrs. Luckily we've not had any problems. Yes the kids trampoline has turned over - but I can sort that out. The plants in the garden are a little windswept, but I'm sure they'll recover.

Made a plan last night to get my house sorted - have listed things I have to do each hour - so must get on. Tonight for tea we'll have meatballs and pasta, I'll make a pasta sauce sometime today, and then will sort out a Roast Chicken for the weekend - yummy.

Need to go and sort the boys out - hugs to those in need and Daisy cat.x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Morning RedRuby and all who cross and follow,

    Hope all is well.

BITSY big hugs to you and your family.

Glad the wind has dropped a bit here. Plan today to finish stripping my hall. Also need to look at all the reciepts I saved from last month and study them and see if I can save any money anywhere. Am being really strict with myself at the mo, trying not to spend anything much except essentials as I'm trying to get my debts down. I keep telling myself I don't need new clothes as I'm not going out!

Need to make some bread as we're nearly out. Got an agency shift tonight so I need to get some sleep at some point. DS is going to his Dad's. So looking forward to being off next week.

Have a good day all and hugs to all who need one.

Morning RR and all who follow/crosspost :hello:

We've got sunshine out the front and dark clouds out the back

DD1 is making lunch boxes  and DD2 is still asleep. DD1 has had a dry night this week :j:j

I attempted to make my own healthy yoghurt last night ... natural yoghurt with blended blueberries mixed in ... I'm yet to try it but am hoping it'll be scrummy.

Salmon, cabbage (got loads to use up) and boiled pots for lunch. One pot pork loins for tea (i.e. veg, pots, stock and seasoning all chucked in a big covered pyrex dish and chucked in the oven for a couple of hours )

I'm looking forward to doing circuit training tonight ... however the ladies I know that did it last week were still aching yesterday  But I figure if we go for a jog on Wed night it will loosen us up a bit. I'm training for Race for Life - haven't done this much exercise in years but feeling really good for it :D:cool:

I'm some advertising and then voluntary work this morning, working this afternoon. Haven't had a chance to fly this week yet so might see if I can get some housework done today and sort out the HUGE MAHOOSIVE washing pile.

This evening I intend on snuggling up with a book and my HM ice cream :D

BIG (((HUGS))) to everyone who wants/needs them and hoping that everyone has the best day they possibly can.

    xx

    Hi all

Thank you for the lovely welcome yesterday.

Bramble1 - I think that if you aren't happy where you are then you should look at moving. A home should be your sanctuary from the world - the one place that you feel safe, secure and comfortable. If you can afford it then I say 'Go for it!'. We all need to pay our debts off but life still goes on in the meantime. :)

Flutterbyuk25 - I agree with meanmarie. It's a lot easier to get into a house-share than to get out of one. Although it might all work out ok and go swimmingly, you also need to think what would happen if it didn't - how would you get her to move out (if she would)? would it turn nasty? If it all went wrong you could end up either having to move out yourself (because she refuses to) or living in your bedroom because it's the only place to get away from bad atmospheres, etc. (That's if you can because of constant partying or loud music). She might be a lovely girl - but because you don't know her then any one of the scenarios listed above could apply. If I didn't know someone well enough to agree to marry them then I certainly wouldn't be living with them. Hope that helps!

So sorry to hear the news of Daisy cat. I've been thinking about here constantly and giving my little pooch extra hugs and kisses because it makes me appreciate him so much more. I'm sooooo hoping that it's a case of the 'darkest hour is before the dawn'. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you all.

Put a few more things on eBay last night - I hadn't put anything on there for sooo long and am really chuffed that you can put stuff on for a 99p start with photos, etc and there's no insertion fee. That was the reason that I didn't use it for so long - because I didn't want to have to pay the fees if it didn't sell. Think I'm in danger of selling the whole house contents now! :rotfl: (and relisting if they don't sell first time)

Think tea tonight will be sausages in onion gravy, veg & pots.

Better go and get ready for work.

    Catch you all later!

    Morning everyone

Bright but still windy here again. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket, beans/veg. Tonight dinner will be quickies as DS1 has Cadets.

Have a line of washing out already, managed to get yesterday's dry and in before it rained, rained really heavily for about 30 mins and 10 mins after it had stopped everywhere was dry again - no-where near enough rain, ground is still really dry. Keep watering my plants, they seem to have survived the heavy winds at the moment.

Tomorrow night we will be having roast chicken, mash, veg, yorkshires and gravy, then on Thursday evening will be general clear up tea of what's in the fridge before we go away early Friday morning.

Have several jobs to do on the computer before we go away, so tonight will be a to do night, as I'm having my hair hi-lighted tomorrow afternoon when I get in from work, so all of the afternoon will be taken up with that, and my good friend comes on a Weds after school with her son, she's having a bit of a hard time at the mo and has always been a really good friend to me, so we have good chat, coffee/tea and cake etc and a shoulder if she should need one.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Thanks Bargainbird & Save-a-Holic :) we've decided it's what we're going to do. It's not going to be for a while yet, so will still spend the next couple of weekends trying to make this house more of a home, I'm going to gut it room by room and just do what i can to improve it. It's a shame, i do really really like my landlords and it's a great location, but to make it better we'd need to throw money at it, which i'm not really prepared to do.

    anyway,

    Morning All!

Just having a cuppa and doing my hair. Dinner tonight i think is chilli con carne, I've got mince out and can't think of much else to make with it!

I really need to get my bum in gear and list a few things on ebay. I've got lots of bags i no longer use, and some clothes and bits and bobs and all the money will go towards savings/debt repayments.
I need to get my p60 too as i'm owed about £300 in overpaid tax which again would do nicely as debt/savings payments. And Music magpie needs to be sorted too!! all this potential extra money just sitting around my house! i need to sort it out. This in turn will clear out the spare room and i can turn it into my study/library/chill our room.

Got a wash hanging on the line and will put another one tonight.

Big hugs to daisy cat and all who need them.

Oooh I love it too :)

    Morning my lovelies :D

Parents will make final decision on Daisy after talking to the Vet this afternoon.
plans for today are to get some housework done, take my mum to local garden centre for some plants and generally try and keep her a bit distracted. Nothing worse than being left with your own depressing thoughts and if nothing else we can sit and have a wee cry about things together :o:o
Tea should be Spag Bol but H won't eat that so might have to do him something else.

We have lovely sunshine here but house was well chilly this morning  Have put tights on DD again today as she was too cold in her bare legs yesterday. Hope it warms up a bit.

EG - Good luck for your interview this afternoon. How many jobs are you doing at the mo?!

Good luck to all those taking exams today x

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a great day OS or not.
