Hi - if the car PASSED it's mot but had an advisory issued, will this website tell you what the advisory was? I bought a car which had a 12 month mot cert put on it but the garage said it had an advisory note about the seatbelt being frayed, but the advisory note isnt attached to the certificate. I just wanted to check on it.

    yep, it will.

That wasn't quite what you said.

    So, what is the offence?

What do you expect the buyer of the car to ask?

Ihave stuck it on ebay with all I know is wrong with it. So if anyone is nosey I'm sure it will be easy to find! Spoke to a traffic officer who confirmed that it has an mot however if stopped it could be classed as driving a dangerous vehicle etc
    Cheers for the help

    As mollycat said, yes...

go to the website, scroll down to 'MOT history check'

You'll need the vehicle reg number and the MOT test number from the VT20 or the VT30 or the document reference from the V5.

Voila, Robert is your Mothers brother, you can print these out for the amusement of the people in the pub who told you not to buy it in the first place.

What a useful link, many thanks :T

Turns out everything ties up with what I was told by the garage (had been concerned about the mileage on my car) but turns out that it's done around 4000 miles per year on average since 2005 so that makes sense now.

I'm making no assumptions about what the buyer may or may not ask but your statement was quite unambiguous, so what's the offence?

The offence of fraud my mis representation is knowingly decieving someone, if asked about something. You do not have to tell people anything but you must answer truthfully otherwise you have knowingly decieved to gain and cause a loss to another.

If we want to be exact about what the law says, the RTA does say that it is an offence to sell an unroadworthy car.
