Hehe, I knew you would be working but couldnt resist it looked funny reading it all in one go. I felt like I was sat at the desk between you both in the virtual office and it made me giggle.
I love second hand things too. Yesterday in Llanelli I bought a second hand Laura Ashley lampshade (mint condition) for £1.50. Now I need the candlestick lampbase to go with itSome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. DARN you Squizz! I DO NOT NEED a soprano saxophone! I cannot play the bl**dy saxophone! I suspect NOBODY could play one made in 1910! Darn it! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

Totally agree with MrsMoo ... this is hysterical2023: the year I get to buy a car0

It was indeed hysterical KC
Life's been slightly less hysterical since then though!
Got a sore throat yesterday, didn't think much of it, lovely office mate had a cold for 3 weeks and wouldn't stop and take a day off so kind of inevitable I'd get it. Planned early night didn't materialise, and about 11.30 I took some ibuprofen and headed off to bed.
Went to take thyroid tablets, then remembered dire warnings in tablet leaflet - IF YOU GET A SORE THROAT STOP TAKING YOUR TABLETS AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY! This may be a sign of bone marrow depression. (tablets can affect body's ability to fight infection apparently, which if not treated can be fatal - sore throat can be sign of the start of this - but obviously can be just a sore throat...)
Mr Daffs grumpy and cross because of how evening went (unrelated to me) - can I really be bothered to start a round of NHS phone calls and an inevitable pointless trip to out of hours place???
Yawn.
Best had I suppose - it's only going to be more inconvenient if I land up dying or something. Wanted someone to tell me I'd be fine going for a blood test at the out of hours place in the morning.
Rang docs. Answerphone said if your call is not urgent call NHS direct. Called NHS direct - they have a 10 hour call back time for non urgent cases (of which I am evidently one), told me to call docs. Rang docs - they said they had no idea whether I was alright to wait til the morning without knowing what my blood was doing, so I had to go to A&E for a blood test, which they'd get the results of in an hour.
Yawn...
Mr Daffs drunk too much to drive, and far too grumpy to be able to provide moral support (sitting in A&E for 4 hours is one thing, sitting in A&E with someone grumpy and moaning and who doesn't want to be there is *quite* another) so off I toddled on my own.
Arrived at 1am. 3 people in there other than me. Nurse said it wouldn't be long.
2.45am, after everyone else had gone (plus all the people in the meantime who'd come and gone - including the completely delusional man who was carrying 7 tins of tuna and shouting 'did anyone order a takeaway??', and the young couple who just couldn't resist calling him names and then shouting when he got taken into a side room before them [not to be seen, just to be moved away]). Finally got to see the doc, who looked at me like I had 3 heads when I said I'd been sent for a blood test for a sore throat. I did explain about the medication, he didn't want to see the info leaflet, and apologised for the out of hours doc sending me there unnecessarily.
'Is it possible you've just got a sore throat?' he asked. Er, yes, I'm pretty sure I have just got a sore throat, but with all these dire warnings on the leaflet and from the endocrinologist, I thought I'd best check it out, and since nobody could tell me over the phone whether 'see your doctor IMMEDIATELY' meant I could wait til the morning, I thought I'd best come here. Bleurgh. Blood test results will take 2 hours. Blood reluctant to leave arm, so had to be taken from hand instead.
3am - moved to waiting area with 6 beds, and given not a bed but an upright chair to wait on.
4.30am - same harrassed doc came back, can't see anyting wrong with blood test that he's worried about, but has spoken to his superior and as neither of them are experts in this specialist area, they can't tell me whether it's safe to carry on taking my tablets. (if I don't, my current 'normal' thyroid function which is held delicately in the balance by said tablets will presumably be disrupted, which may well make me feel rotten and possibly delay my operation).
Got to ring the endocrine place this morning - a pointless task as I'm pretty sure there'll be nobody there. If not, I'm going to start taking the tablets until I fall down in a blithering heap!
Needless to say, 5am does *not* in my book count as an early night! And a lovely neighbour started drilling at 9am.
Yawnarama!
Wish me luck trying to get an answer out of the closed hospital department...

OMG Daffs, how bloody awful for you. If it helps you to know me and Mr C had words last night. I told him he was a grumpy old man, he didnt like it and we ended up sitting in different rooms. If it helps to make you feel even better I got up at 5am so you had company. Mr Daffs will probably feel really bad when he is out of his grump and realises how mithered you were by it all. The NHS is rubbish. I do hope you get an answer early enough today. I am sure that there must be an endocrine consultant on duty somewhere in the country. If you need help phoning around give me a shout. It will help distract me from being grumpy with Mr C before he decides to show his face (probably not before lunch time). Big hugs. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Thanks MrsMoo, poor you! have a hug ((((((((((())))))))))) So difficult dealing with a grumpy person, especially when you're not feeling on top form yourself. I sometimes get to the point where I feel like I have to be entirely reasonable ALL the time - clearly very difficult, especially when someone else isn't being! Don't underestimate the stress it causes xxx
(and the amount of moaning Mr Daffs did about the NHS/A&E when I got home I'm glad I didn't take him with me... (and wasn't moaning at all myself, quite happy for other people to take priority and staff were obviously doing what they could! Tedious, but I wasn't moaning)
You'd think there'd be some kind of specialist on duty wouldn't you? Clearly not - after 4 phone calls the receptionist said I'd need to ring on Monday - wasn't allowed to be ill at the weekend :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Thanks for the offerVery lovely of you
Think I'm just going to keep taking them - internet factsheet things seem to say if your white blood cell count was fine then it's fine to start taking again (and this has been my experience in the past - albeit in not quite such a dramatic way! :rotfl:) Dr last night didn't think there was anything in my blood test to worry about - I suspect just covering his back.
Going to have a shower and go to the WI, that should sort me out. Will leave Mr Daffs asleep0 -
Asgard poor lasses on here!!!!

What a dilemma  and what a night
I hate those leaflets that suggest dire side effects and then leave you wondering when you sneeze.
Poor both of you with your menfolk. Sometimes there's nothing to be done but leave them to stew and get on with life.
I hope the weekend improves for you both. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Oh, I feel rotten now I wasnt looking for sympathy I was trying to empathise and make Daffs feel better.
But will take hugs and sympathy anyway. (not ashamed)
Sometimes Drugs leaflets are very scary. I once took some tablets for my Menieres (refuse to take them). When I read the leaflet it said something along the lines of "may cause breasts to grow" - they were steroids. That would explain why I went from 30B to 30E rather quickly then!!! Hence now refusing to take them.
Hope your day is improving. The sun is coming out here so going to get out in the fresh air. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Blimey Mrs Moo!
I'm not one for overreacting to tablet leaflets, I'm really not. But the consultant warns you in person about these ones - this is why they only put you on them temporarily rather than keeping you on them for life - this side effect, though rare, is life threatening which is why you need to stop tablets at the sign of sore throat - which over a lifetime would be a complete fuss and bother for everyone!
Anyway, eventually rang out of hours GP, who rang hospital for test results. Apparently my body is fighting the little bug I have admirably (rahter than giving up the ghost entirely which is what they worry about) so keep taking the tablets
Is it time to go back to bed yet??0
