Well, the lovely squizz told me about a day playing with an orchestra - so that'll definitely be going in there :D And my Scandinavian music weekedn that I enjoyed this year, I'll be going to that again (be nice to have actually played some scandinavian music with some people before hand mind you! Must get on the case - no excuse, there's 2 sessions every month here doing just that with people I know well...)

Naughty Squizz! :rotfl: :rotfl: But I did buy this one with money saved up from my Saturday job when I was 14 :D I only had it serviced a few months ago though so that's not really a good enough excuse :rotfl: :rotfl: and it got me through grade 7 just fine (although that was 13 years ago - 14 years!  ) Maybe I do need an upgrade :p Friend just bought a lovely one - but it cot about £2000 I think

Aha Squizz, might have to trot along to that one (although I'm not sure how good I am at just *listening* to things like that :rotfl:) They had a flute playday down the road last year - might see if they're having another one as I missed that one! :)

    How exotic MrsMoo!

Er, I went to the pub, does that count?? :o:p:D

Of course it counts. What did you have to drink? I know they do tea in pubs but hope you went for something like cider.

  • An upgrade is maybe something to chat to your teacher about - definitely a big saving target though. And probably, really, worth waiting a while to get your technique a bit more secure so when (erm, I mean if) you try new ones you know what really suits you... so yeah, stick at the 't's and 'd's :D I've got a bit of a long term plan to buy a decent piccolo, but need to get the flute stuff sorted properly first before I can think about going back to piccolo again as it's definitely harder!

Personally I'd say it's not really worth going for something that is just a small step up if you're planning to be playing it for a long time, better saving for something 'good' that's going to last years. You might want to think about open holes at some point as well (that is going to sound so dodgy to people who don't know what it means :rotfl:).... my teacher has just got a new flute in the  price range - daren't ask but have got a rough idea, I think at least 3 times what mine cost

Know what you mean about the concert - I get a bit restless and wish it was me up there! :o Saw that about the playday too, but not seen any sign of another one.. that would be good!

ps whatever you do, do not look at this website http://www.justflutes.com/ especially not at the professional flutes section with the ones where it's 'price on application'... (I've been to the shop as well, years ago.. *drools*)

G&T :p Usually pub drink of choice if I'm in need, whether for cheery or gloomy reasons, and this was a bit of both! :D

(and henderson's relish crisps, of course :p)

I think that's where my friend got hers from Squizz :p She spent the whole day in there! Gave them her budget, and they just kept bringing her things, to try with different heads and whatever, I wouldn't know where to start right now! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I definitely will *not* be looking at that website of course ;) but I did jut email YWO to ask if they were having another playday :p Will let you know what they say! :T :T
