:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Thanks KC
Just been on the city farm website and it's all bouncy castles and face painting today, so I'm thinking a quiet afternoon sewing at a friend's house instead

Like the idea of a quiet sewing day. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

It was fab actually
Went to the community garden round the corner, had an outside lunch with about 12 others of parsnip and carrot soup, veggie tart, salad, crumble etc - all fruit and veg grown in the garden :T :T How lovely. Shame I couldn't stay longer actually (although then I would have got roped into moving water butts - definitely not a calm day :rotfl:) Spent a few hours knitting and chatting at friend's house instead. Now home and getting into sleepover mode, about to go for a nice walk through the showers
Hope you're all having jolly day0 -
Oh Cheery, that sounds a much nicer day than your overnight at A&E! How lovely! Your sleepovers sound so romantic .... have a lovely time.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thanks KC
Sleepovers don't have to be romantic! Often end up just with a cuppa and a film - it's more about making time just for us without us pottering about doing other things. Helps us stay connected and both in the same place - which I suppose *is* quite romantic really...
Speaking of which, we were going to go for a walk and it's going to go dark before we've done it at this rate!
And where's that Squizz - she's got a lot to answer for that girl... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Oh dear, does that mean you bought a saxophoneSome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

Damned right it isSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Tis indeed Hypno, realised how daft I was being when I'd said it
(and yes I'm sneaking on here quickly while the kettle's boilingHaving a lovely evening though, a nice long walk, a good theraputic chat, a daft film :j :j :j :j)
And no, I couldn't quite justify a saxophone.
It's a clarinet :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
But in my defence....
I've been feeling pretty cheery about musical things recently Having been taught classically at school, I've never been one to experiment, didn't play really for 14 years after leaving school, spend 6 years living with Mr Daffs (who spends all his life doing musical things) and surrounded by musicians, and I was too shy to join in
The past few weeks I decided to stop thinking I *should* be brave enough to join in, and did what I'd wanted to do for a while but thought was a bit daft, and started having lessons. Blimey I'm absolutely loving it, and playing at home too, and experimenting a bit and everything :T Just needed a little push and to do things in my own way.
And now I think I'm finally starting to understand why Mr Daffs has a house full of mad instruments, only some of which get played :rotfl: :rotfl: because it's FUN, that's why! :rotfl: :rotfl: There was me thinking I couldn't experiment with anything else because 'I don't play the one I CAN play, so I'm not allowed to start anything else'... :rotfl: What nonsense! :rotfl: :rotfl:
So, I can't play the clarinet, but who cares? I shall make a joyful noise until I *can* play it. And who cares if I never play it outside my bedroom???
So this is a daft spontaneous purchase. I've done no research, I haven't even talked to my professional clarinet-playing friend who I saw this afternoon about it. I'm buying it off ebay, it's almost certainly a completely entry level clarinet, probably bashed around by some small child and may not even work properly. I don't care. I've set myself a budget of £40 including postage, I'm not getting involved in any mad bidding wars, I've just lost one and have got the second one ending at 11, and I'm *excited* :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
