No wonder you ache with all that physical hard labour. Would Mr Daffs be able to take the car to the garage for you or is he not up to refusing to pay either? I took my car (when I had one :() to the garage because my wipers had stopped working after the snow. Turned out it was just the screws needing adjusing! they didnt charge me.

Mr Daffs will take the car, I've just got to phone up first. Mind you, it's a day for scary work phone calls, so shouldn't be a problem really, i'll just bung that one in the middle and pretend I'm making it for work :D

(and yes KC, the Pentland is, er, rather choppy  :rotfl:)

  • You have probably lost the 3lbs from the running swimming thing. Why not take a bike and call it triathlon night?

I very much doubt my flailing efforts would have lost me that much! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Mind you - the only time I did lose a decent amount of weight was when I actually did a triathlon :rotfl: Nearly signed up for another one in September (hence the swimming lessons...) but waiting to hear when surgery will be first (and I'd actually like to do this one and be able to SWIM rather than it take me 25 mins to do 16 lengths (yes, really) like last time! :p

I'm wondering how much of your weight gain is due to the thyroid condition? Beware of pushing yourself too hard till you've had the surgery and got the balance of thyroxine right.

I know you don't want to hear that :rotfl::rotfl:
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

I know you don't want to hear that :rotfl::rotfl:

Very little I'd say Tricia - my thyroid is OVER active so I'm meant to have a large appetite and actually LOSE lots of weight :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Appears I'm in the 2% (or whatever) who doesn't lose any weight :p (although n the past I've not put on half as much as I should have done given what I've eaten...)

I'm not worrying about things too much at the minute really as I know the beta blockers are slowing me down rather more than I would normally - but then given that the thyroid madness meant i was wound up and boinging all over the place for a while, I'm not entirely sure what 'normal' is anyway :rotfl: :rotfl:

On the whole I'm aiming for a general healthy eating/ reasonable amount of exercise pattern - I know full well when I've stuffed myself with cake and when I haven't, and while it's disappointing to eat really well and not lose anything, I'm concentrating on good habits rather than spectacular weight loss (except this last week of course, when I stuffed my face and got exactly what I deserved... :p)

Mind you, once the surgery is out of the way and the meds sorted out, then I WILL be even more on the case :rotfl: :rotfl:

Bleurgh, grumpy grumpy grumpy again here! It's just TOO HOT!

Anyway, enough moaning. Mr Daffs has got some people coming round for a band practice at 7 - he's not here, so I've just spent an hour having a tidy round the house, putting camping stuff away, washing dishes, hoovering etc - feels rather better now :T :T SO much need to keep on top of it :o

Even more hot and bothered now :p

So there's people arriving in an hour, and I'm off out in an hour - I think I'm going to hop in the bath :D Wouldn't normally, but Mr Daffs had the heating on for 2 hours heating the water up (can't have one without the other apparently ) - and then was so disorganised he didn't have time for a bath... so seems a shame to waste all that heat for nothing!

Rambling on, I'm too hot for rational thought, too annoyed with myself for not getting everything I wanted to done today - and actually looking forward to going to the office tomorrow to see my lovely office mate and have a bit of an organised time :D

(incidentally, finding I'm getting far too distracted at home at the minute, and it's a real drag to keep concentrated on work. I'm thinking of experimenting with going to the office 3 days a week rather than 2 - I do budget for it (although mostly save the extra day), I suspect it will perhaps make me more tired with the extra travelling, but I'm just not feeling like I'm working very well at the minute :o Going to go in 3 days next week and see how it feels (then I'm off for a fornight, so I suspect I will have recovered after that :p) :D

    (3) I'm so useless, I can't even breath *out* under the water :rotfl: I just blow bubbles, then when i lift my head out, I try to breath out *first* then there isn't time to breath in :rotfl: Fortunately the teacher is very patient :p

The last time I tried to swim with my head underwater (i.e. properly) I nearly drowned, and spluttering along the pool trying not to look like one is choking is quite embarrassing, so I gave up :p

Ought to look into lessons really!

Laughing at your story of the swimming lesson. I want to learn to swim properly, rather than just idly splashing around, but never get round to it.
I don't even have your excuse - I can see the sports centre from my house! But the thought of communal changing rooms/showers and all those kids during the school holidays leaves me cold.
