Quite right Tricia
And :rotfl: :rotfl: at plastering being like icing - perhaps you inspired the builder to try his hand at making cakes? :rotfl:
In Mr Daffs' defence, I never expected *him* to do it (although actually he's remarkably handy and can turn his hand to pretty much anything, frequently builds furniture etc (as well as musical instruments) - you wouldn't necessarily believe it to look at him - he looks like a fabulously eccentric slightly dandyish musician(which he also is
)).
So I never expected him to help - and what I was mostly objecting to was telling me I couldn't get someone in because he would do it, and then him NOT doing it because there was always something more interesting to do...
Anyway - FINE mode is clearly working - wall still standing, by the way :T :T :T Going to order some topsoil today to stick behind it - we might actually be getting there!
In York today though, and al anon tonight, so I won't be doing anything when I get home this evening at 9pm! <yawn>0 -
Have you ever tried dry stone wall building? Always think that looks fun - especially figuring out which stones fit together best.. my dad is a certificated dry stone waller person but I've never had a go.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Hi Cheery and everyone
Cheery - i finally got around to popping that article into an envelope for you - wrote the card first addressing you as cheery then came to write the envelope and hope i got your first name right! Wasn't too sure about putting To Cheery on the front :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Although that would have been very nice
And then i remembered that you like taking photographsand i am very lucky to be getting a camera either for my birthday or christmas - birthday is quite soon actually so i just thought i'd ask your advice on a good camera price about £100 - £130 - i think i've been looking at the panasonic lumix ones? but could be mistaken
Ok if you can't help i am just trying to make the right choice
Your weekend sounded fab and well done on building your wall - looking forward to seeing the picsI'm hoping my mother will help me with my garden - its not huge but there is just such a lot to do! Weeding, cutting back, path making

Squizz, I have in fact tried dry stone wall building - it's like a large and very heavy jigsaw where you're not even sure if you're starting with the right pieces in the box :rotfl: :rotfl:
Dedicated, stick cheery on the front if you like:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Absolutely no idea about cameras I'm afraidI bought a canon pixus 40 about 7 years ago for about £90 a think, had it for ages, dropped it, then bought one exactly the same from ebay for about £40
Never had another digital one, and I know nothing much about them really!
How exciting to be getting a new one though
(I would have though £100 is about right though, depending on how high tech you want it to be!)

Ok so I probably needed more than 6 hours sleep last night...
Day started well (ish), not quite up early enough to walk into town, but left at 6.45am and got on the train at 7.12. Meeting at 10 went positively spiffingly considering what I was expecting.
Rearranged the garage to take car for service BEFORE I drive it all the way to some remote corner of Wales on my own on Saturday
Then someone's leaving do at coffee time - cakes out in force. Fruit cake, lemon cake, elderflower drizzle cake (Squizz - you HAVE to make some of this!! No idea how - I assume the same as lemon drizzle but mix some of your lovely cordial with sugar and pour that over instead!), mini rolls, jaffa cakes....
(ah - forgot to tell you I put on half a pound at sliming world last night - pah!)
Anyway, I ate cake. Then later needed a cuppa and the cake was still in common room. Sneaked another bit. And another while waiting for the tea to brew.
As the day wore on, I got tireder and (well, more tired anyway :rotfl:), needed more tea, and therefore ate more cake
Got home at 7.05, and stuffed in 2 bowls of weetabx before dashing out to al anon meeting. Or at least that was the plan, after eating I couldn't bring myself to dash back out again having only been sat down for 10 minutes, so I sent my apologiesI was SOOOO tired.
Sat and stared into space for a while, then pulled my socks up, put some washing on, and have had a toot for half an hourDon't feel any less tired, but do feel more refreshed
Question is - have I got time to squeeze in a shred before Mr Daffs gets home and finds me puffing and panting on the kitchen floor??? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (the kitchen is the only place in the house with a solid floor - anywhere else I'd be scared of falling through! :rotfl:)
Answer of course is that I'm not sure I can be bothered anyway
So. I STILL don't have my half stone sparkly sticker at slimming world - after 9 weeks I've lost a grand total of 6lbs. I'm going to be at this FOREVER.
I've been keeping a spending diary this week and last week - very revealing... will post results at some point (suffice to say I spent nearly £20 yesterday on nothing-very-much...)
And I'm tired! Which is why the whole universe feels like it's gone to pot.
On the whole for today - World 1, Cheery 1
(well, you didn't think I'd let the darn world win did you?? :rotfl::rotf: :rotfl: I still squeezed in some tooting, I've been proper organised at work today and got loads done, I'm properly prepared for my meeting in London tomorrow, and I'm about to GET OFF MY BACKSIDE and tidy the kitchen and put the kettle on before Mr Daffs gets back)
AND - my wall's still standing :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j
Scrap that - World 1, cheery 1.5
(pah, car's just pulled up and I haven't even got up!)

Hi cheery, I suspect the cakes may have more than a little to do with the lack of success at Slimming World.

I ate the cakes AFTER going to slimming world!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (although admittedly they won't help next week
)
I'm going to bed nowI love going to bed while it's still light

Cheery, no matter when you ate them, you need more nutrition than cakes and weetabix! And twill be very interesting to read the results of the spending diary
Have a lovely sleep2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi Cheery and everyone,
Cheery - Good to read you are getting a good long nights sleep tonighti wanted to say to you as well - the article got posted because it was part of the paperwork i had to deal with - was up until 1am saturday following your instructions on 'getting things done' - still getting the hang of it - although thats always going to be the case with a new process isn't it? so many thanks for those handy hints
:D:D
The camera is a gift so i can't go too high on the area of spends and have offered to contribute to the £100ish amount too as this is still alot to spend. The thing is if i am getting a camera its obviously (to me anyways) better that i get a decent one so i don't receive it and start thinking about the next one which will do everything i want
The selection of cakes at your place sounds delicious!
I, like KC, am intrigued about the spending diary - although £20 these days does not seem to go far enough(hope you don't mind me saying KC Karmacat - makes me think of TC (topcat - and of course benny the ball!) oh dear i'm rambling which means i'm tired too

I've got a Panasonic Lumix and I'm really chuffed with it. OH has a much more expensive one and he has to do much more work in Photoshop than I would have patience for. It's also quite light to hold - I walk with a stick so have only one spare hand.
Hope that helps. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0
