I have read Pride and Prejudice but never watched it. Sounds like you are having a good day and remembering to rest too, thats good. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

Happy new year!!
Is it very wrong to confess that I can;t quite decide whether I like the BBC Pride and Prejudice better or the newer film??BBC version has a slight edge purely because it's longer, so there's more of it :rotfl: :rotfl: Good activity for yesterday though!
Friends did turn up eventually, but didn't stop for long as ff to a party. Mr Daffs didn't go out n the end, he had a soak in the bath, I watched another film, and at midnight we threw coats on over out pjs, took a glass of ginger wine and a couple of sparklers out onto our new terrace, and shared a kiss under the fireworks
Not the most energetic new year I've ever hadBut a cheery end to a slightly strange year all the same.
Woke up at 8 this morning with a most utterly horrendous headache - completely unfair, I barely even had a sip of ginger wine, I feel like I drank several bottles! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Oh I love the BBC version of P&P - and the book is often my comfort reading, thats the one I like best - I was going to say what my favourite bit was, but I realise there are too many
Sorry about your headache Cheery - that sounds a bad one - I wonder if thats the last of the anaesthetic leaving your system? I've heard it takes days to go ... no clue. But lots of gentle hugs.
And a Very Happy New Year :j:j:j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks KC, happy new year to you lovely lot too! :T :T :T
All going reasonably well hereI am spending plenty of time loafing around, reading, messing about on the internet, watching the tv, staring out of the window, being entertained by visitors, and having naps
Am structuring my days around a series of tiny little actvities, so yesterday was:
(1) wash hair
(2) friend to visit at 4pm
(3) walk to newsagents :T
Very exciting. Today I've only got one activity so far - docs to have suture thing removed - eek! Must investigate if it's going to hurt so I can prepareStill, that one activity will involve a little walk, and actually I have a friend who lives just round the corner from the docs, so I may well see if I can pop into her for half an hour, and get Mr Daffs to come and collect me
Then I can sleep for the rest of the day
Must do internet banking - although still don't quite trust myself not to do something stupid so will wait a few days:rotfl: :rotfl: Haven't managed a NSD yet this year - quite ridiculous! Yesterday we got a milk etc on the way back from the newsagents, and I bought a new diary.
Must figure out how I'm going to keep track of budget this year - cash out of the bank, or a notebook, or just winging it...Maybe not today though
Do you know what is scandalous though?? I've had FOUR lots of visitors since I've been home, and not a SINGLE ONE has brought cake, chocolate, sweets, or edible treats of any kind!   I don't exactly *expect* my visitors to bring things, of course not, but it's coming to something when NONE Of them bring cake to an invalid! It's getting to the point where I'm going to have to buy my own cake, and that won't do at all! Perhaps everyone's assuming I'm on some kind of new year diet?? (not an unreasonable assumption, but it certainly won't be starting til AFTER I'm better for goodness sake!)
Hmm- secondary task for the day - find some new friends0 -
I wonder if they think the action of eating cake will be too strenuous on your stitches!

the BBC P&P is my favourite comfort TV - the perfect thing to while away a whole day when you have one spare, or need to escape reality for a while!
I bought it for my gran last Christmas, my mum didn't think she'd like it, but gran took one look at it and said "ahhhh the correct Mr Darcy" so I felt rather smug
bahhh to no one bringing you cake  have some virtual Nigella chocolate cherry muffins for your troubles
of course it's *lovely* just to have their company, but 4 sets of visitors and no cake is getting to be an uncomfortable trend!
be brave for the stitcheshopefully it won't hurt, I found they feel odd rather than anything painful but then I have never had stitches where yours are!

Thanks you lovely lot
What an eventful morning!! Thought I'd pop to visit a friend before the docs (she lives round the corner) - set off feeling all normal and boingy, thinking 'hey, this is great!' Ten mins up the road I popped to the shop to get biscuits (I know how to be a good guest! And was quite desperate for biscuits
), and the whole matter of getting *into* the shop, and *choosing* biscuits was very complicated indeed :rotfl: :rotfl: By the time I got to friend's house, felt like I'd walked for 15 miles (rather than 15 minutes
) and was in high need of tea and biscuits!
Friend said she'd been wondering what chocolate to bring when she visitedso I explained about everyone else, and she gave me a box of Lindt D'or she had in the cupboard to keep me going
So that's this afternoon's project
:T
Docs was remarkably uneventful :T Slightly bizarre sensation having the wire thing pulled through, but it didn't hurt, and I've brought the beads home :T :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Home now, feel like I've been on a large trek :rotfl: Staying put on the sofa for the rest of the day, nothing planned (other than the chocoltes, of course)

Now thats a good friend. Hope there's something inconsequential on tv - I think you might just have missed Gentlemen Prefer Blondes2023: the year I get to buy a car0
