salad dressing - pah :rotfl: :rotfl: Much prefer my salad naked thanks KC :D LOVE sesame oil though :T :T

I do occasionally experiment with dried beans KC, and maybe I will do again.... Didn't realise butterbeans were so quick - will investigate them at least. Don't have a slow cooker... :o (and not entirely sure where we'd put one - not much worktop space here!) Will consider it though :)

Another NSD here :T :T :T Going to keep count from the beginning of December. Challenge will be going to York tomorrow... I'll walk down to the station, I'll have to buy train ticket but that doesn't count I assume, I've got a pre-paid bus ticket for the other end, so only cash spend will be 50p bus home from the station. I reckon that counts as work travel budget :D which means I just have to make sure I take enough food - shouldn't be a problem this week :rotfl: :rotfl: :p

Best get cracking making it! I'm thinking cous cous with some stuff in :p, yogurt/museli/dried fruit for afternoon, a few dried apricots, a satsuma or two, a bit of frozen cake :D Should keep me going I reckon :D
  • What kind of stuff do you make with pulses and lentils Cheery? I'd love some inspiration! Especially as I've just joined the dreaded Slimming World :) - I'm feeling remarkably empowered by it - just need to get myself organised with the shopping and meal planning. I'm surprised by how sensible and healthy and common sense it seems - I really should be able to organise that without paying someone else £5 a week but hey ho, I have a target to reach and by jove I'm going to reach it! I do wish I lived in one of those trusts though where the NHS pay you to lose weight!

Have a good day in York, Cheery.

As for dried beans, doing them and using them has to fit your lifestyle - but they're so cheap that when you go to the patchwork lifestyle full time (so to speak :D ) it may *really* make sense.

I imagine it will make sense KC!

Well done on joining SW Ruby :) Good luck! I use beans and lentils in pretty much everything - stir fry, chilli, curry, omelettes, sometimes just mash up a few butter beans with a bit of coriander and some mushrooms to use instead of buying hummous (tastes nothing like hummous of course, but nice substitute :D) Anything really, sorry, that's not much help! :D

NSD here :T :T :T :T Well, I spent £12 on the train and £1 on the bus getting to work - but I'm not counting travel to work (unless I get proper idle and get a taxi home from the station...) Hooray! :j :j :j (lunch was tasty too :D)
  • Yay to nsds :)

    hey up lass :)

Only just getting the hang of this NSD malarkey - about time really! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Tomorrow won't be one sadly - I'm off work (with no pay...) and meeting a friend for a cuppa in a cafe. Last time we went though the tea was only 60p so it shouldn't be too bad :D Obviously don't need to buy food yet :rotfl: :rotfl: And I'll walk down to her house rather than the bus, so all good! :T Meeting in the afternoon, so will have lunch here first :)

    You good?

Didn't do tooooo badly on the spending front today! :T :T £1.09 for a candle (smells lovely! :T), £2.40 for tea and two cakes :D £1 for a little bit of Mr Daffs' Christmas present, and 50p for the bus home. Not too bad at all :T :T :T

Just done some internet banking shenanigans.... Patchwork fund hit £3000! :T :T :T Excellent stuff. Aim is to get to £10,000 by the end of next year - eek! BUT I think once my emergency fund hits £1000 I might just keep it topped up to that, and throw everything else at the patchwork fund, so that'll help a little (emergency fund isn't a losing job type of emergency - that's the patchwork fund :p Emergency fund covers broken washing machines, house repairs etc, got a separate car maintenance fund). We'll see.

Anyway, got 7 more trips to the office before Christmas, and since I've just had a BIG top up shop I'm saying £80 for the rest of the month for food. I usually allocate £30 a week, then don't think about it at all. I pay half, and we really don't spend as much as I budget, but I've fallen a bit into buying lunches at work etc, and I'm stopping that now, especally after my big shop! So £80 it is - with full cupboards, and that's only half, so we should be fine :T :T

Also allocating £100 for fun this month rather than £150... That covers all my entertainment etc and incidental spends. But I'm going to be in hospital (or just out) for the last week of the month so won't be going anywhere much :rotfl: :rotfl: And I've still got a bit in my purse anyway, and that should still be plenty, especially if I'm not eating lunch out etc.

What else? Er, that's about it probably! :p
