Another name for lye is caustic soda and you can buy that in tons of places - supermarkets, diy shops, wilkinsons etc

Mostly found in the diy section or sometimes cleaning, they normally sell it for drain cleaning purposes.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

Did you know that the first soap factory was in my home town of Widnes. It was called Gossages. Also the birthplace of the chemical industry with the Mond brothers, later to become ICI! Also the home of Mel C (sporty spice) and the lad who just left the X factor tonight James.

    Sorry couldn't resist.

Gosh you lot are full of fascinating facts this morning! Makeup is quite right about the lye/caustic soda of course. And we often used to visit Port Sunlight on school trips, home of sunlight soap of course!

In the office, feels like someone's turned out the lights outside, it's so dark and gloomy!

Well, would you believe it passed?! I'm speechless :D (not for long, clearly :rotfl:) Mind you, I'm pretty darn pleased, it's been to the garage about 47 times already this year, obviously decided it had better buck its ideas up! :D

So £45 rather than the anticipated £45million :rotfl: :T :T

Maybe it is because you took it to a different garage! I tend to be quite suspicious of garages. Took David's to a new garage for the MOT this year. Last year they mentioned that the tyres needed to be changed. As we were changing to winter tyres that wasnt a problem. Put new tyres on for the summer and the garage tried to say they were worn. When I pointed out that I had new ones on 3 weeks earlier he ahemed and aha'd and tried to say that the garage where the tyres were put on must have tried it on with me. I said I would take it straight there now as they had guarnatees. He said it was a long drive? What do you mean says I? Well (says he), the garage that MOT'd it last year is over 150 miles away! Ah but I had the tyres done in town! Oh he says, maybe I am wrong............. Now I think the thought that he saw me coming. Got a shock he did.

Oh dear MrsMoo, that's proper shocking!

I think the issue with the last one wasn't that they found things wrong when there wasn't anything wrong, but rather that they never fixed anything properly, so it was forever breaking again! Things got fixed with gaffa tape temporarily, and then never fixed properly. Stuck with them for years, the bloke who runs it and one of his apprentices is lovely, we've a lot of friends who go there, and they're cheap (obviously :rotfl:) but given how many things went wrong before/during/after holidays, and how I had to have 3 new sets of tyres in the space of about 3 months, they've had their last chance! Stupidly, I'm not actually going to tell them, but just not go back again, which makes me feel a little bit bad :o Hey ho.

Anyway, new garage is closer, and so far have earned points by (a) having an online booking system allowing me to book the MOT at 9pm on a Friday night (for 10am on Monday) - and actually be expecting me when I rang to confirm this morning :T and (b) finding nothing wrong with the car :rotfl: (which they shouldn't strictly earn points for, but they have :rotfl:)

Apparently lost points with Mr Daffs by calling him 'Squire' though :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Apparently 2 back tyres are close to legal limit (but not bad enough to fail MOT) - so now how long do I leave them?!

Anyway, here on my own for a couple of hours after a long day at work, so have done a bit of TOOOOOOTing, also want tospend half an hour having a look at that pesky PhD and starting to think about a couple of journal articles to come out of it, want to sew up a couple of carrots I made for a friend's daughter yesterday :rotfl: and also need something to eat (was thinking I might also do shred on the way home   but now it comes to it, I'd rather not :p)

Best get off the darn computer I suppose and get on with it!

(also haven't done internet banking for this month either so haven't transferred rent or anything to various pots, should really do that too!)

Well, dont feel bad you gave them enough chances. I would probably do the same thing.

Carrots? sounds intriquing. Mr C is North helping friends out. He was supposed to be back last night but things didnt work out so may be back very late tonight so I have been pottering all weekend.
