What is and what isn't legal tender is largely irrelevant anyway, as legal tender only refers to payment of debts. If you are buying something it is entirely up to the retailer whether they accept your money.
You have an excellent point there. You're right, it only does say 'legal tender to cover debts'....So effectively, if they don't accept my pennies, they will have to take me to court who can decide what to do... Then it entirely depends on the judge whether he has a GSOH and believes in penny power too :rotfl:0 -

Guys, I don't have the £63...But I've dug up 1350 pennies...And it's a LOT of copper here! ... I'm about to pay my local Tesco Express fuel station a visit. I'll let you know how it goes0

They ruined my fun and used a penny counter and weighed the coins and accepted every penny!! , and even gave me 9p change0

Legal tender applies to the settlement of debt - they would be well within their rights to take the minimum required and ask for another form of payment for the rest.
In reality, I'd probably count it though. Certainly once I explained that there was 6 thousand coins to count, and took 5 minutes to count the first 100, I think the customer might change their mind...
The best way to get "rid" of change imo is the self-service tills as Tesco.I saw many YouTube videos which have people walking in to pay their parking ticket using coppers lol...In one news report, the police was called when an old guy was trying to pay his clamp release charge...police sided with the guy that got clamped, the clamping company HAD TO accept all the copper...
The police enforce the law, they don't create it.What is and what isn't legal tender is largely irrelevant anyway, as legal tender only refers to payment of debts. If you are buying something it is entirely up to the retailer whether they accept your money.
If you get the goods first, then pay, it's debts. They aren't going to suck the fuel back out of your car, are they?
You almost getting the fuel now, but paying in 5 minutestomwakefield wrote: »...However, with petrol, you pay after putting the fuel in your car, so there is no way to refuse to sell the product if they then decide to offer 2000 1p coins in payment
again, settlement of debt (i.e. the £63 you owe them for the fuel) uses legal tender. They don't have to (but probably will) accept any more than 20p in coppers.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
I sometimes take them to Tesco and use the self service checkout or use the machine at the bank to pay in to my account0

Capitalism isn't the problem. Bad customer service is
Op's sig. Coming from someone who's actually stated they're going to try and pay for petrol worth 1350 pennies.
Op your sig is self inflicted.
