    Good

double check equifax and maybe call credit.

The thing is if the default is not your your credit record, then it was more than 6 years ago. So unless you made a more recent payment, it would be SB. If the debt is yours and was statute barred when you paid them, it remains statute barred even if you make a payment. But you cannot reclaim the money from them.

If the debt was not statute barred, then making a payment or written acknowledgement by you re-sets the clock.

It sounds however, as if this debt was never yours in the first place?

Despite what the DCas tell people it has to be written acknowledgement by the debtor (not letters from the creditor) or a payment. Having arranged a payment, you might be on a sticky wicket but I am going to guess that the last contact in October 2005 was from the DCA to ther debtor, who may or may not be you.

As other said, send a CCA request, which requires them to provide proof of the original debt agreement, to find out if it is your debt.

i have just double checked my credit report with callcredit. In the accounts section there is no sign of Barclaycard but in linked address there is this:-

    From:
3 blanked out my prev address.
    To:
    34 my old street address.
Most Recent Source of Link:BarclaycardLast Confirmation Date:01/04/2005Earliest Confirmation Date:01/04/2005

From this does it mean that it was SB on the 1st april this year and they lied about oct??

    No

That means that in April 2005 someone linked you to a Barclay card. Whether or not that account actually belonged to you is another matter.

Givern how old it is, that record will drop off in the next few weeks anyway.

    Who registered that connection?

    OK

print that record off and keep it, because you need proof.

Write to Barclaycard data Compliance Officer and ask for evidence that this is your card.
