Thanks mhendo!
What about upload, would I be likely to get anywhere near the full 1.3mb?0 -

You can effectively get free connection though, by signing up through Quidco's affiliate link to get £24 in cashback.
I've been with Be* since they launched, and get 18.5Mbps down, 1.3Mbps up - always fast and reliable.0 -
mhendo wrote:Be* used to have their promotions in the Metro, but they haven't had any promotions for a long, long time now - and apparently won't until O2 launch their products (next year).
Or you could use the promotion code "christmas" and get free connection.
Happy days - used quidco too so effectively a month free + free connection and a wireless modem!
Looking forward to upgrading this 1mb line..0 -
Not long until connection now :-)
Im trying to get the best speeds i can so i invested in one of these master sockets -

Has anyone fitted one before? Ive had a look in my phone socket and there are wires in the current one(i had expected it to just be a push in thing) - does anyone know if these are just for the extension used by sky (which i no longer have)? If so could i just not wire them up when my new face plate comes?0 -
The faceplate you ordered is a plug-in faceplate for the modern BT NTE5 master socket. Your existing socket should look something like this:-
If it does, then you may find wires attached to the front-most section (the faceplate) - you simply push these wires into the the exact same terminals on your new faceplate; this is usually just terminals 2 & 5.
You should have just tested out your new ADSL2+ in the test socket first to see if there will actually be any improvement.
If your BT master socket doesn't look the one in the picture, then it sounds like you have an old style socket which the faceplate won't fit.0 -
Yes it is the NTE5 socket i have.

But are those wires for the extension i no longer use,or for my actual phone line?0
