Can someone help me understand this? I have never done a price check or got DTD for anything but as I am moving house in the next two weeks this could really help me. What do I stand to lose? I only want to but things I will genuinely need such as dishwasher tabs, washing powder, cleaning stuff and freezer goods but I can't afford to lose money - do I buy the items I have seen mentioned across these threads, put in a price check claim, and then when they only give me the difference back, I email customer services quoting the advert I saw in the sun and their twitter page? Can anyone confirm that I have understood correctly? Thanks so much, I appreciate the effort each and every one of you put in to this! Lisa x

If you can't afford to lose money, then forget about DTD completely. Too far gone, too many variables, and no surity that you will get it back at this point anyway.

Thank you. I assume that I would get the normal difference back though, in any case, is that correct?

Yes, but we should just shop at Asda instead if that's the case - they are cheaper on most items after all. :rotfl:

It depends on what items you buy. If you buy items that other people have already confirmed, then yes you will.

However it is not uncommon for price changes or Asda removing an item off the website temporarily to affect you getting anything, and items have been known to come back Not Found even after previously working. You could potentially return these items though as long as you stick to non preishables and claim something along the lines of - "oh woops I didn't realise the OH had alredy done the shopping and got these already" if you needed to and they did come back N/F.

Historically there have been some bizarre items that have matched perfectly but Tesco just won't price match them.

Agreed - providing of course you have an Asda near by; or you don't want the Clubcard points to go with it.

I'm not going to bother this time around. I can honestly say that since Tesco stopped the DTD I have not shopped in there and I have been going to Asda instead. I was really surprised how much cheaper my shopping was at Asda when the final total was rung up on the till. Too much hassle with keying in receipt nos, waiting for voucher the next day, digits not matching on vouchers and receipts, miserable shop assistants when you have over your DTD voucher etc. etc. etc. Good luck to any who wants to give it a go, but Tesco have lost a customer here as I shall not go back due to their overly greedy inflated prices and their constant changes of the Terms and Conditions to suit no one but themselves :j

Just got through and was told to
Email customer.service@tesco.co.uk and include all details of the bottom of the receipt, plus my name, address and telephone no.. They said that another voucher would come back via email.
I said that my mum had gone shopping this morning and asked if her shopping would be checked for DTD they told me they didnt think so as it was just a mistake for shopping 17th.
I did try to argue that mum had only just seen the offer was still on so that wasnt really fair but the woman hung up on me!:eek::eek:

Tesco has confirmed its 'double the difference' price guarantee is dead despite an advert it placed in The Sun newspaper yesterday stating it is still alive.

Better hurry and post a link backing that up or the DTD cottagers will get you. :rotfl:
