Yes well, in the immortal words of Mandy Rice Davis (Hell, I'm showing my age here!) "They would say that wouldn't they"! Typical - blame some 'unknown person' and wriggle like a snake. Tesco commisioned the ads and it was their responsibility to proofread and confirm that all was in order. The buck stops with them and if they had any honour or care for their public image they would stick their hands up, apologise and accept the results of their !!!! up. But then, this is Tesco we are talking about so I am not holding my breathe.

Yes, I have read the article:
We are awaiting official confirmation from Tesco on its next steps though it is understood it will not honour the 'double the difference' guarantee to those who read the ad.

However via Twitter @UKTesco confirmed last night that they will be honouring it, they cant back track on that as well.

    Here , Here !!

I agree - people are so quick to try to squeeze Tesco for any little glitch/misprice etc that they can . Tesco should ask themselves why!.

Can someone help me understand this? I have never done a price check or got DTD for anything but as I am moving house in the next two weeks this could really help me. What do I stand to lose? I only want to but things I will genuinely need such as dishwasher tabs, washing powder, cleaning stuff and freezer goods but I can't afford to lose money - do I buy the items I have seen mentioned across these threads, put in a price check claim, and then when they only give me the difference back, I email customer services quoting the advert I saw in the sun and their twitter page? Can anyone confirm that I have understood correctly? Thanks so much, I appreciate the effort each and every one of you put in to this! Lisa x

  • Confirmed from yesterday:

    TOTAL £ 7.05 £ 5.00
    1 x KINGSMILL REALLYSEEDED 800G £ 1.05 £ 1.00
    1 x ARIEL STAIN REMOVER WHITE POWDER 500G £ 3.00 £ 2.00
    1 x ARIEL STAIN REMOVER BLUE POWDER 500G £ 3.00 £ 2.00

Used a 50p voucher on the Kingsmill, and 2 x £2 vouchers on the Ariel Stain Remover. Can I be bothered to ring customer services and hand over my details for the sake of £2? Hmmm, me thinks probably not.
