In July 2011, i purchased a camera from Simply electronics, i was unaware, they were based in Hong Kong, so now the problems start.
The camera won't work, i contacted SE and went through the rigmarole of filling in the online return forms and returned it to them via e-mail.
The reply i got back showed a new query code had been allocated, i rang them to state i already had a returns number and didn't need a new query code, told not to worry, it was all on the system and i would recieve a reply by the next day ( 19/01). Still haven't heard and when i ring now it tells me i've got a 52 minute wait and it recognises my number (so they won't answer me . LOL)
Questions are,
1. how do i establish if it is a "grey" import.
2. If not "grey" are Samsung UK bliged to fix it.
3. Do i have any redress via the credit card company for a refund.
Thanks.0 -

I was ‘nicked’ when I used the phone in India – a month after I bought it and so I have to send the iPhone back to India...
I ordered the HTC from SimplyElectronics.net after speaking with a man who told me he was (somewhere - I've forgotten) in the Home Counties, in England.
Was the phone new? Yes.
In it's original wrapping? Yes.
Not stolen? No.
Original HTC phone? Yes.
So I ordered it on Wed 18th Jan 2012. (Money received by MoneyBookers).
Everywhere it says 8 days for Standard Delivery, as I was reminded in a reply to my enquiry email I wrote several days later. I too had read the Google results of their name search. It occurred to me a DOT Net might not be registered in the UK...
However still my Order Status reports 'New', meaning it seems, I'm still in the Order ready to be Despatched, which actually means it may not even be Packed yet, see the Email below...
<<Dear Peter,
Thank you for your email.
We would like to confirm that we have received your order and it is processing as normal.
Regarding your query, please kindly note that, "New" status is indicated for orders that are currently in a queue to be dispatched. Once an order is ready to be dispatched, status will change from "New" to "Packed", then an email notification will be sent out with the parcel tracking number and finally, status will change from "Packed" to "Shipped". Also, the standard delivery timeframe is 3-8 working days.
Meanwhile, we will closely monitor the delivery process, and it is expected that a notification email will be sent soon for the estimated delivery date by our Dispatch Team. The dispatch email will provide the tracking number and the courier's website link for you to monitor the parcel.
Hope this helps and should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Many thanks.

I've bought things from HK before now and they've arrived, they do take longer than Amazon, and now is the Chinese New Year, so things are bound to be grinding along.

VISA Clawed back the payment for me. #Result! I'll not deal with SimplyElectronics ever again!0 -
cancelled my order a day after making my purchase but too late to prevent my being taken out of my account. Three months later, I am still waiting for a full refund and am having to use my bank to chase the money using debit-card dispute scheme. I have also complained to the Hong Kong Consumer Council. all the w's consumer.org.hk

Wish I had read this post before ordering a Nokia E9 from SE - On Monday - don't know whether I will ever see it
I have received an email from a "Nate" at SE - telling me to log on to my account on-line and all will be clear
Problem is that when I check on-line - all that I get is an itemised list and a "new" under "order status"
Looks like I have been scammed and will be looking to Visa to recompense me for my £245 spent on my debit card ?
I don't know how or why I was scammed - I thought that I was web savvy .........
Why didn't I see this coming ?0 -

I hate to say the obvious but you only have to Google "Simply Electronics" and read some of the info on page1 of the search results to make alarm bells ring! Good luck and alway be suspicious of any web transactions.

If you've ordered with them before, could you tell me your experiences? I'm petrified I've just been dwindled out of £470!!
Interesting that Filbertchick never came back on and said whether she received the iPhone 4."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Bought a Gopro camera from this company...when I tried to register it for software updates I was informed it was counterfeit. A multitude of emails and a world of pain later they agreed to send me a genuine replacement....this turned out to be counterfeit as well! I am still negotiating a refund through my credit card company...I just can't believe the hours of my life which have been consumed trying to sort this problem. Be warned...if this was the last electronics goods company in the world, I would not use them...it's now 4 months since the original purchase and I don't have a genuine camera or refund.:mad:0
