Morning all,

After doing some more research, I found this listing on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Apple-iPhone-4-16GB-Black-SIM-Free-w-Apple-Warranty-NEW-/180634502338?pt=UK_Mobile_Phones&hash=item2a0ea7c4c2

so it's apparent to me now that they are indeed are HK company posing as one from the UK. Their eBay feedback seems reasonable for the amount that they sell, so *fingers crossed* that my order turns up.

Google "Simply electronics not"

I am currently waiting for my 17-40mm lens and being mess around... However I ordered a 7D with no problems whatsoever!
• On 6th August 2011 I ordered a 70-300 Zuiko lens from Simply Electronics, having saved for ages. 2 weeks later my order status still said 'New', so I phoned and was told there was a delay in dispatch and to have patience, still my lens did not arrive, I chased again and was told it would go out the following day and they would also enclose a free lens cleaning kit by way of apology.

Well the lens arrived a few days later, not free kit. I tried it out over the next few weeks, but didn't get good results. So I contacted SE to return my lens. Did so at a cost of £15 and waited and waited for contact about a repair or replacement or refund. I heard nothing and so chased and chased via the phone and many many emails.

Here I am after 7 weeks after they received my returned faulty lens STILL waiting for a refund that they have been promising for weeks.

Since my placing the order I have had a replacement card as the old one expired, have given details of my new card and still I am waiting.

Totally sick of this useless company. Weeks ago I booked a photographic holiday so I could use this lens. I asked well in advance of this holiday for a refund so that I could purchase the lens from a reputable company, but now have had to hire one instead at a cost of £40, I hope to get some kind of compensation for this from SE too, will be writing to the company but in the mean time have asked my bank to reclaim the missing money and have also emailed Watchdog! DO NOT BUY FROM SIMPLY ELECTRONICS!

Why would anyone spend £470 on a phone when you can contact your service provider normally once a year for a free one?

Because anyone with a calculator and half a brain cell can work out that it's possible to save literally £000s over the course of a 2-year contract this way. You might get the phone 'free', but you pay for it in the end.

In follow-up to a recent post on a mobile phones thread, my experience with SimplyElectronics has alas not been good.

I ordered my Motorola Defy Plus on 06 Jan, 2 weeks later and the order is still showing as 'new' on the website. I've lost patience, I have requested the order be cancelled and a full refund given (yes they take your money on the day you buy, naturally)

Feeling stupid for not doing more research, I'm usually far more careful but got greedy.

Amazon it is next time.

I ordered a Fuji camera from them on 2 Jan for £110 (£129 elsewhere) and got an email saying
usually deliver 2-8 working days. I checked my account on their webpage regularly and it showed 'New' alongside my order.
I emailed them after 2 weeks (10 working days) and got an email a few days later on Jan 12th

"Thank you for contacting us.
We are experiencing a higher demand for our services and it is going to take a
short moment to process everything. However, please be assured that we are
working diligently to clear out our backlog of orders to minimize any further
delays.
We apologise for the unexpected delay.
In addition, we would like to assure you that we will be upgrading your order to
Next Day Delivery once your order is ready for dispatch. The parcel can then be
expected to arrive in 1 business day.
Meanwhile, we will closely monitor the delivery process and will send you a
notification email as your parcel has been dispatched.
Should you have further query, please feel free to contact us."

I kept an eye on 'my account'. which eventually showed 'packing' and 'dispatched'

The camera was shipped on the 17th Jan and it was delivered by Citylink on 18 Jan.

I think I would probably buy from them again as their prices are very good but one gets used to Amazon saying
4-6 days and delivering in 3days.

Incidentally the person who 'closely monitored the delivery process' never did send me
an email telling me my parcel had been dispatched... he is obviously software that answers all
'where is my order' emails
I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!
• I bought a lens from them a couple of years ago and that was in full knowledge of their reputation. I paid £140 when UK prices were £200. Apart from lack of communication I never had the same horror stories that a quick google search will reveal.

They're Hong Kong based hence low prices (no VAT) and lack of manufacturers guarantee. The majority of people have had OK experiences so I wouldn't worry too much. Although it appears when something goes wrong it really goes wrong. I'd buy from them again for low value goods, but the in-house warranty puts me off higher value goods. Personally I always thoroughly research any online company I've never dealt with before, including, like asbokid did, a whois search.
• I placed an order for an HTC Desire HD - to replace an iPhone I'd unwittingly bought in Nepal, which only a few weeks earlier had been stolen in India. I was ‘nicked’ when I used the phone in India – a month after I bought it and so I have to send the iPhone back to India...

I ordered the HTC from SimplyElectronics.net after speaking with a man who told me he was (somewhere - I've forgotten) in the Home Counties, in England.

Was the phone new? Yes.
In it's original wrapping? Yes.
Not stolen? No.
Original HTC phone? Yes.

So I ordered it on Wed 18th Jan 2012. (Money received by MoneyBookers).
Everywhere it says 8 days for Standard Delivery, as I was reminded in a reply to my enquiry email I wrote several days later. I too had read the Google results of their name search. It occurred to me a DOT Net might not be registered in the UK...

However still my Order Status reports 'New', meaning it seems, I'm still in the Order ready to be Despatched, which actually means it may not even be Packed yet, see the Email below...
<<Dear Peter,

Thank you for your email.

We would like to confirm that we have received your order and it is processing as normal.
Regarding your query, please kindly note that, "New" status is indicated for orders that are currently in a queue to be dispatched. Once an order is ready to be dispatched, status will change from "New" to "Packed", then an email notification will be sent out with the parcel tracking number and finally, status will change from "Packed" to "Shipped". Also, the standard delivery timeframe is 3-8 working days.
Meanwhile, we will closely monitor the delivery process, and it is expected that a notification email will be sent soon for the estimated delivery date by our Dispatch Team. The dispatch email will provide the tracking number and the courier's website link for you to monitor the parcel.
Hope this helps and should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Many thanks.
Best Regards,

I've bought things from HK before now and they've arrived, they do take longer than Amazon, and now is the Chinese New Year, so things are bound to be grinding along.

I'm hopeful it will arrive soon.

Bit of an old thread But I thought I would post as I have dealt with them

About 2 years ago now I wanted a very expensive pre amp (2.5k average online)
simplyelectronics.net was far cheaper
I was wondering whether or not to risk it then when I next went online I noticed the simplyelectronics.net homepage wasnt loading right. Sure enough when I (Again stupidly for me) tried loading via IE I got infected
I emailed them and they said everything was fine their end. When I rechecked (Safely this time :p), firefox had already blocked it (Someone must have reported it), so I sent another email explaining this. Around 6 hours later the reply email was thank you for pointing it out, theyre working on it, and I could get a 10% discount off anything I wanted.
So I ordered my amp with the 10% discount but something went wrong with the TSB authentification (I think this was partially my computer security at fault at the time) and ended up paying TWICE! (I was panicking by now!)
I managed to track down an email address via av forums and emailed a woman directly about what had happened. The email address was there because so many people had had issues with the site (Which made me feel even worse) and the woman was (in text at least) commited to sorting out all issues.
Fair play to her, she sorted out my money (So cheaper and with 10% off too) and because of letting them know about them being hacked I got sent a free HDMI too (About 8 quid to buy off their site)

So all in all, whilst it was scary, it worked out fine in the end (And it is an amazing pre amp)
Would I use them again?
NO WAY!
