That's a great result, a hassle in the short term but a good long term benefit :)

Eek, Wednesday is not far away - hope you get everything done x

Great result in the end :)

Just a shame that it was a lot of hassle too!

  • HI all

Well, its all been a hassle and a half. I've had to put ANOTHER £1,500 on the card to pay for the furniture, I've had to pay a year agents fees up front and its all just a flipping mess.

The Egg is therefore now back up to nearly £5k, and whilst I am confident this will be paid in about 3-4 months I just dont want it hanging there like a falnming millstone.

It all feels like one step forwrd and two back and I'm fed up of it. It seems that no matter how hard I try I just cant get straight and I end up thinking "what's the point?".

I've had another interest free offer through (from another one of my dormant cards) and I think i might as well transfer it as the interest is so high on egg, but I just feel like I keep playing the flaming shuffle and not getting anywhere.

    Sorry for whinging.

Whinge away, it's what we're here for! :D

It probably never seems right at the moment and like a step back but just look at how much you have cleared, you are doing really well even if it doesn't seem like it at the moment.

Definitely transfer it to a 0% - don't let evil Egg get any more interest!

It will come together in the end, just keep on chipping away :)

    xx

Hi there, followed you over here from other diaries.

Well done on starting again and I can understand your reasons why. For me, I am frightened ppl find out my identity who can bring it home to my door as no one knows about my situ except my best friend who it turned out is in the same situ!!!

So keep it up - you sound very glamourous and in a high powered job! As someone else said - it's all relative though.

I'll follow you on your journey if you don't mind : )

  • Thanks for the support.

I simply could not make my mind up re the transfer this weekend so I did nothing about it yet, but I have plenty of time to decide. I've had other stuff going on in my head and I need to compartmentalise.

Welcome to my diary DebtFree2012 - you've just made me chuckle! I certainly dont consider myself to be glamorous or with a high powered job! Knackered with a high pressured job is more accurate! Just kidding, I am lucky to have the job I have, but it does make it harder to stick to a frugal lifestyle when I am expected to maintain an "image". And by that, I dont mean I want to maintain an image, but there is a certain expectation from the partners about what they want from us - its more the image the firm want to portray to the clients than anything else I think. Oh well, I shouldnt complain about that really, and for the most part I do enjoy it.

On a positive note I've been a very good girl in terms of not spending (other than the absolute essentials I've had to buy for rental house etc). I'm going on holiday on Saturday staying at a friend's villa in Spain (flights bought and paid for long before LBM, so I consider the holiday to be a freebie, since it all formed part of my original debt!). Other than a bottle of suntan lotion I don't need to buy anything else, and we've all agreed that when we get there we're intending the holiday to be a relaxing "chill out by the pool" break rather than a "get dressed up and go out partying" break the cost once there will only be the same as if we were buying groceries at home. And four days out of the office and away from all the pressure going on in my life at the moment will be bliss!

So, for this week at least, its onwards and upwards. I have a mountain of work to get through so I am switching all forms of media off - including my work email- and just checking a few times a day. Minimal interruption, maximum output.

    Well that's the theory, anyway!
