Cyclists can't get SP30's, I'm pretty sure it's not even illegal for them to speed?[/QUOTE]
Wrong, but I think it's more likely to be dangerous riding.
There was someone done near here some years ago.
Cyclist are subject to the same rules as every other road user, and THAT is what irritates most motorists, they DON'T observe them. They do whatever the hell they like, because they have no way of being recognised and reported.
Pass a law requiring them to have number plates, and see the changes.
And yes! The are plenty of really bad drivers too.0 -
BS. The tendency is to exonerate the driver.
Fact is cars are designed to permit people to drive along eating a burger while fiddling with the hifi and sending a text. And if as a reslt of this, you get in an accident, your bumper crumples, the airbag gets deployed and you walk away uninjured. Which is why car drivers should be punished severely when they drive in a careless manner - because the consequences are unlikely to fall on them, they will fall on a pedestrian or cyclist - the law needs to be as harsh as possible on careless drivers in order to deter dangerous behaviour behind the wheel. But it isn't, the driver faces minimal punishment even after killing someone, and even if banned from driving, psycho drivers are allowed behind the wheel again after a year or two.
What a stupid statement!
And cycles are designed to avoid waiting because they are able to nip onto the pavement to get past motor vehicles etc etc etc.0 -
it stands to reason that the cyclist needs to take responsibility for their own actions, as much a the motorist should for theirs.
Ah, so it's okay to knock a cyclist off, potentially killing them/giving them a serious injury, as long as you *think* you're in the right and they're in the wrong. I get it.
Maybe I shouldn't have slammed my feet into the ground to stop yesterday when a large, brand new Skoda decided to SMIDSY me. At least the driver would've known he handled that junction wrong, and have to clean my blood off his car.
Remind me to never come to wherever your car is please! The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

I personally don't think a registration mark on a cycle will stop half of the bad cycling we see and it certainly won't make cyclists any safer when sharing the road with vehicles.0 -

End of the day it boils down to one thing more than any other.....
Drivers hate being overtaken by filtering cyclists, it harms their ego being out done my a man (or woman) on a £50 bike, while they sit in a "queue" in a car which probably has them upto their eyeballs in debt.
Secondly they hate being delayed for a few seconds by someone as unimportant as a cyclist, unimportant because cars are a sign of social status, therefore cyclist are of a lower class.
The rest is just crap, a suicidal teenager on a BMX comes flying through a red light, or ploughs across a road in front of them and straight away ALL cyclists are painted with that same brush.
They do some annoying things, like cycling up the inside when your indicating left, but you have to remember that most of them do also drive cars.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I think you might have been reading a different thread, because I don't remember writing that at all. I'd be happy to address your concerns, if you could be so kind as to point out where that was written. If I did write it, perhaps there was something within the context which might expalin why I did.Maybe I shouldn't have slammed my feet into the ground to stop yesterday when a large, brand new Skoda decided to SMIDSY me. I fail to see why you should blame me for the actions of other car drivers. Really, you need to think before you post. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Because you started a thread whining about 'cyclists', as if they a single uniform group, rather than a collection of individuals on bicycles.
There are far too many idiot motorists who think I, because I am on a bicycle, have some kind of duty to defend or represent the kid on a Asda bike riding across the road with no lights or working brakes.0
