Help needed - Debenhams store card

I'm in a similar position with Evans card and have had the "final" no letter from Santander - my card still has a balance so I don't think this has any influence on payout. I took the card out in 1996 and was sold PPI over the phone in 1997.
I agree with a previous poster that as they are selling a financial product were all the sales people FSA registered.
I think Santander are the biggest charletans going - they just seem to be immune from the regulation. I'm going to make it my priority to pay the card off and then they can pi$$ off!0 -
Just to give you all some hope in reclaiming mis sold ppi from debenhams/santander. My daughter wrote to them on the 18 aug 2011 and recieved a reply from them on the 25/08/11 upholding her complaint and a full refund of all premiums paid with interest AND a further 8% on top of that. She also recieved a copy of her aggrement that had clearly been filled in by a store assistant in 2006. She had been told that she was signing for account cover to cover purchases if she bought them nd they then went into the sale, she could claim the difference back. It was a quick easy process, all it took was one letter.:j:j:j0

This is very interesting. I am in a similar position Laura Ashley card in 1998 and Bhs in 2000. First one I just signed where I was told to ( you can see crosses on copy ). second one I did not tick any boxes but it was added on after a 'sales marketing call' 12 months later (which I do not recall and no recordings available!) Same letters received as everyone else has had from santander and another after emailing CEO. I think they know no one has any recourse as not covered by fos and are not upholding claims that other companies are in similar circumstances. My claims would not be for much because I only had small balances but it makes me cross that they can get away with this when others are having to put things right!
Surely there must be something that can be done?
Power in numbers maybe?
There seems to be some very bright people on here any ideas?
Anyone?0 -

Hi all, hope this helps - bought car 1997 on finance, ppi added - I was and still am self employed - this means I am excluded from claiming ! pointed this out but told if dont take it I would not get the hire purchase !
GE CAPITAL FINANCE was the company - this was underwritten by FINANCIAL INSURANCE COMPANY LIMITED at VANTAGE WEST, GREAT WEST ROAD, BRENTFORD, MIDDX. TW8 9SW
also states "member companies of "Consolidated financial Insurance"
I also wrote to Santander - they have no information etc., so go away !! I have full documentation including copy of hire purchase agreement, Certificate of Insurance (which clearly states self employed NOT eligable) and other related paperwork - I also have every bank statement that shows every payment made for the full 36 months and the total ppi cost was £1663.20 !!!! I tried asking some years ago about miss selling but was told very strongley "out of time - forget it" started chasing this around November 2012 after coming on this site and I am not giving up !
I hope this information is of use to anybody here, I will post more info/progres when/if I get any further
Good luck to you all0 -
Hi,
I know this thread is old but hoping someone will respond - I had a Debenhams card in 97 but do not have any of the paperwork but yes I did pay ppi - can I claim and do I just send a letter to GE capital or Santander or do I send the questionnaire too please? I also have the same with House of fraser. Thank0 -
If Debenhams sold you the insurance, that is who you complain to.
However, it predates regulation by some years so don't hold your breath.0 -

Also looking to hear the outcome any of you had with ongoing problems with Santander. Just had a rejection letter today and wondered if it's even worth the time to go down the FOS road where neither Santander/ GE Money will take responsibility!0
