Help needed - Debenhams store card
Comments

Hi, I have an update although its not great news.
I had a response back from Financial Insurance Company Limited.
They were not responsible for this policy at the time it was taken out, they have referred it back to Santander (who wont or cant tell me who the PPI policy was actually with)
I've now come to a standstill with this and not sure what to do ?
GE money where the original company who this card was with. Is it worth now contacting them even though Santander took them over ?
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks0 -
I have a copy of my Evans agreement, taken in 1997, and the company it says holds the insurance is Consolidated Financial Insurance. I don't know if it might be the same company as Debenhams? I googled them a few weeks ago, and found a post from years ago saying that GE owned them. Not sure if this is any help to you though??

Similar to other posters I am trying to reclaim money on a Debenhams card. Spent 2 hours on the phone this morning trying to get some info on my complaint. Sent the questionnaire in 2 months ago and heard nothing.
Went completely around the houses with this and spoke to 8 different people, all without success. I am currently waiting for a phonecall back from Santander.
If anyone has a number for the complaints resolution team in Leeds that would be great.
Not looking hopeful on getting the money back0 -

Hi
Just a thought, but "maybe" if you contact the FOS on the General Customer Query line free phone, explain the predicament here and they may be able to help you to track this down, but meanwhile yes do write to Santander anyway and see what they come back with.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

I am almost certain thats who my D Perkins insurance (have details in work) was with, I spoke to the FOS and sent my claim after Santander and the FLA had rejected it to the Mr Tony Keane address, the guy at the FOS told me they were the same company. They basically told me the same that it was not them, and referred me back to Santander.
Mine is now with the FOS to try to find the correct underwriter, I did send them a photocopy of some documentation I had from them.
Had a response from the FOS today saying basically they were inundated and it would be at least 4 wks before they even looked at it.
We all collectively mustn't let this drop!!0 -
Hi all!
I e-mailed the CEO at Santander a few weeks ago and asked them to review my complaint and got a letter back today saying decision still stands and refer to FLA. They also found my agreement which they said couldn't be found initially and the PPI box is ticked!! Not convinced that it was me that put the tick in the box as can't imagine why I would have done especially when I didn't tick the box on my D perkins agreement completed around the same time. Having said that there wasn't a box to tick on the DP agreement!!
The tick is different to the other ticks on the form but not enough for me to say 100% I didn't tick the box.
Still feel I was mis-sold ppi as I didn't need it & honestly don't believe I ticked the box but can't see me getting anywhere with it now.:(
Keep updating & good luck!!0 -
Hi folks,
I'm in a similar situation, I'm trying to claim account cover on a Debenhams storecard from 1994 (on behalf of my mother). Santander initially said that it wasn't mis-sold, despite providing me with a copy of the original agreement with the account cover box TICKED, CIRCLED and SIGNED, by someone called Audrey! My mothers name isn't anything even remotely similar! I wrote back to them and Santander sent their final response letter which is basically identical to what you have received. The FOS have said that they cannot help due to the fact that the account cover started in 1994. Any ideas on the next steps that I could take?
Please keep this thread going so that we can all keep each other updated. :-)0 -
Hi
Im in the same position as everybody else and this post makes interesting reading. I took my Dorothy Perkins card out in 2001, the salesperson was more interested in giving me 10% discount and just asked me to sign here and here.
Last year when I realised I didnt need it I cancelled and put my claim in however Santandar rejected it. Due to reading through the posts I realised that I couldnt go to FOS because of the time I took it out and didnt know where else to go, so ive lost out as I dont think I can relcaim but will be reading through this post with interest.
They should be made to pay the salespersons were selling a financial product - surely when you think about it, it must have been against a law or something selling insurance without training

Hi guys,
As you know from reading this thread, I previously wrote to Financial Insurance Company Limited - thinking they were the underwriters of my PPI policy. They wrote back saying they were and never have been involved.
After reading the (very) small print again in the terms and conditions I have noticed the following which I missed previously
"information will be passed to Consolidated Financial Insurance and/or Card Protection Plan Limited"
Does anyone have any info on these companies, contact name and address or any other info ?
I've googled them and I think they were part of GE Money a while ago ?0 -
Hey
I am in a similar position with my New Look Store Card. Opened in 2003 and settled in 2006 (so I am running out of time). Wrote to GE Capital for a copy of my credit agreement and got my letter promptly returned telling me that they had no record of my name or address on their system.
My next step is Santander and I will see how that goes.
Will keep you posted.
