That's ridiculous. Week beginning 24th June does not include any July days when the nursery is open, therefore it doesn't count as a July week. Stand up to them. State that firmly in a letter, and send money for half a month.

    Good luck.

I agree with Lois, all though I would probably read the contract first to check whether or not what they are saying is actually reflected in the contract or if it's their interpretation.

If it's just their interpretation, then you don't owe them anything, if it is spelt out in the contract then legally you do, and you might get a letter from their solicitor or something asking for the full sum, in which case you should probably pay (but I'd wait for the letter!).

Thanks. I can't find the contract...don't think i have a copy (?) so I will just pay half and see what happens!

I had a really irritating morning. I think oh must have thrown out my internet banking passwords for all accounts - so I have had to apply for new ones for each :( it wouldn't have been me that threw them out of course! Anyway i wasted a morning looking for them and then re - applying. Always looking for the silver lining, I looked through all our paper work again through neccessity, and have decided to TRY AGAIN to get oh to reclaim on mis sold endowments. I have written the letters (took 5 mins) and hoping he'll sign later. He doesn't like the 'reclaiming culture', but I think he has got it muddled with the 'compensation culture'.

I have also played with the baby and his train set, and applied for a £3,000 ns~&i savings certificate, the inflation linked one. This is a bit naughty, as it leaves me with about £200 for emergencies this month only.

It getting sunny now, I might get earthlet out for a walk!!

oh is self employed, and so doesn't claim them.

I have had a sleepless night annoyed about the nursery, and would love some advice.

The current nursery don't have enough space for earthlet to go in September, and so they agreed I would only pay until 15th July 2011. Its a flat monthly fee no matter how many weeks.

He started on the 3rd May, and we paid £637 FOR May, the same for June, and I expected to pay half of that for July. BUT when I have been speaking to the finance office, they say I have to pay for 3 weeks in July  because July the 1st is a Friday so I need to pay for week commencing the 24th June as if it was July. total of over £450. To add insult to injury, the nursery is closed on the 1st july anyway, and I have to try and get other childcare or go unpaid at work.

I am tempted to just pay them half of the monthly fee and see what happens - let them do the arguing, or should I just pay up?what do you think??

I'm not really sure but if you have already paid June's bill then you should only pay for 2 weeks in July - half a month. By the way, i thought my nursery fees were bad but we work opposite shifts. I dread to think that we would spend if we both worked mon-fri.

What are your childcare options for September? Why are they closed 1st July and are they charging you for it?

Thaks Cath. Yes I am going to try paying half. The nurseru is closed due to staff training, and we don't have to pay for that day. Its nuisance though. My MIL is getting the train down from scotland to have the baby :) and we are footing the bill for that, but it will be nice to see her and her friend.

Anyway, I have been busy the last few days, trying to do as many tutoring clients as possible. My mum arrived yestaerday and we have been cleanign and getting ready for the Christening on Sunday. I have sought out some baloons and sparkly confetti for the tables that I just happened to have tucked away, and I 've assembled the banners that I printed at work. They look quite nice - cute and homemade!

Having to feed a lot of people again all weekend, so my food bill will be big - £50 spent so far, and I will use some vouchers for m and s to get the final bits of salad that I need tomorrow.

Right off to cook HM pizzas and relax with my mum. Can feel some knitting coming on!

Grrr.. OH spent another £50 on bbq stuff. Nevermind...

I am all organised for the Christening and I have got 3 hours of tuition tomorrow, and am cooking for my family. I also was to do a bit of gardening too.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

no we went to a hotel for the Christening reception. The Christening in Church part was excellent, but the service at the hotel wasn't great- I am going to complain today. We still enjoyed it though, it was great to see family and friends, and earthlet was a star.

Rant warning!! I have been entertaining and had a house full since Wednesday, and although my mum was great and helped me loads, oh's family are really lazy and just expect me to do everything. After a busy busy weekend and a meal out, I wanted to have a little relax last night, but I had to get ready for work and nursery, change the beds, look after earthlet, feed him extra when he was sick and give him his medicine... Anyway all the usual stuff but no one, not even oh, lifted a finger! Everybody elese just got on with getting ready for an early night! Anway I was really annoyed and stressed and didn't sleep very well at all. But I am not going to let it get me down, I need to just bite my tounge (ohs family only visit about twice per year) and let oh enjoy having his family to stay.

So to refocus on the topic now - saving lots to buy me a super dooper house. Perhaps I could buy a separate wing for OHs family!

None of my ebay items sold :( I was getting to the dregs now. I must recheck the house from top to bottom for clutter and relist my items as bundles.

I banked my tutoring cash from the latter part of last month, and I have tried to get as many new clients as I can, now that the exam season is over and I am losing all my exam clients. I will go down to 6 hours per week this week :( I need to make sure that my lessons are really enjoyable and the pupils feel they are achieving, so that I don't loose any more. I have a new class starting tonight, who have committed to 2 years!!

I am also starting marking on Thursday, after my examining course, so I need to use the next few days well to ensure I can devote all spare time to marking from Thursday onwards. I also want afternoon weekends with earthlet doing something nice. In the mean time I'd like to:

    - plan for 2 weeks of school and tutoring
    - mark all school books/ work
    - clean house and do all washing
    - tidy garden
    - do some work on small business.

    Off I go!

You must be exhausted after a busy few days entertaining with little help. Hope you can recharge a bit now it is just the 3 of you. Although the exam season is coming to an end will you be tutoring people who are going abroad etc?

That's a shame about ebay too, i removed some bundles of NEXT clothes a few days into auction as had no interest on one and one watcher on the other. I could get more in the car boot sale for them than 99p for the lot so wasn't risking it.

PIL gone! Had another incident last night, baby has been very frequently sick, 4 times on me yesterday alone. He has a bad cough and struggles to get everything to stay down. He nearly choked at nursery yesterday and went blue so I am very worried about him. Anyway, I had just been dramatically drenched in sick and MIL saw this and decided that if I got into the bathroom before her she would be late for bed, and so raced up ahead of me to get ready for bed in the bathroom and left me dripping in sick outside the door! HOW SELFISH! Even oh admitted that it was a joke.

Anyway, lots done, lessons planned for 2 weeks, over half my marking done, and the house is relatively clean.
    Still to do:
    - a bit more cleaning
    - finish marking
    - some bits and bobs in the garden
    - small business work
    - pack for day at conference in Cardiff.
    - thank you cards for Chrsitening presents
