I think in some professions the promotion isn't always as grand as it's made out to be. If it's that much work for that reward you do have to consider it carefully. I am going to just enjoy my inncremental payrises for now.

Well done on sticking to a shopping list, i do better when I do online shops.

From someone who failed to get a good routine going with DD, it is soooo important to be consistent. I have learned the hard way. DD is 3 in September, baby due in October and up until 4 nights ago we have had to sit with her for an hour ish each night till she falls asleep and then creep out. I'm hoping she sleeps through before October.

Hi Earthgirl, can I ask a question about your old thread? I've started reading but only got to about page 26 - you are amazing :j
Anyway, did you have a new kitchen or extension and if so, if you don't mind me asking, how did you pay for that? I have fallen off the MFW wagon due to a kitchen extension, I ended up adding £20k to the mortgage and using £10k savings just for the build, and a year later have no money for the new kitchen units :o So if you've got any tips on how to reduce mortgage AND get a new kitchen I would love to know as I'm struggling! Thank you, and I will keep on reading the original a bit at a time :T

OMG What a glutten for punishment - Page 26!

My OH paid for the kitchen - He is self employed and only pays himself £1,000 per month, so he had quite a bit in his business account so he withdrew the money. It was better that way as I would have tried to save money on everything and agonised over every decision - with him in control of it with his money we had no problems.I think he spent between £30-£40, 000 but that included digging the foundations and a big extension out.

Good luck with your project, sorry I can't help!

    Hi All,

I have been beavering away at the money saving and making.

I have charged my phone at work, and made some banners for the Chrsitening. I have cancelled sky sports to save £13 per month. I am trying to negotiate a reduction at the nursery as well.

In terms of income I have only completed 2 private lessons this week as I had meeting the other nights. Oh well can't be helped. I have got 3 and a half hours booked in for Saturday though. I've done 3 lunch duties this week which has provided all my food for the lunches this week.

    Still to do:

    - Plan this afternoons and weekends tutoring
    -contact nursery again
    - do some banking and make a payment into savings

We've got the neighbours coming over on Saturday night as they invite us all the time, so I also need to cook for 6 a cheaply as possible..

Well done earthgirl, you never cease to amaze me with all your money making.

If i am having people over i tend to do a big pot of chicken curry and serve it with rice and home made chips...always goes down well and it is quite cheap to make. Pre MSE i wouldnt have thought twice about going out and buying fillet steaks for everyone :rotfl:. Or you could do a nice chicken and brocolli bake or spaghetti bolognese. The thing i love about these dishes is that you can make them earlier in the day and have them ready so that when the guests arrive your not running around like a headless chicken.

Have a nice weekend and hope earthlet is doing well and goodluck with negotiations with the nursery

All the little things add up, we've just gone down to the basic sky package saving us £30 a month. This means that through reducing direct debits I can OP £100 a month without trying iykwim as our standing order for the bills account used to be £100 more than it is.

Chicken curry sounds great, especially as the weather isn't so good. You may want something to warm you up.
Have a lovely evening. Think of how posh your neighbours will be when you move to the mansion! :D

Wow this is amazing and ambitious but sounds like your will fly through :)
We also have a little girl and would like another but the MF thing has taken it out of me and a few years off I think I need once this is all done and I will have to say goodbye to my decent income as I want to live a slower pace of life. However I like you want a house with land, not sure how this will happen completely, if I'm part time I will have to accept things happening a little slower which is ok, our current quality of life however is not good enough to do through our daughters whole childhood as I don't feel I'm ever there.

    Good luck:j:j:j
