Today has been quite productive, although I did spend £50. £5 on nappies, £4 on a birthday present for oh, and £11 on cheese and grapes (but I am only taking half of the cheese and grapes - the rest I will use as parts of meals) and £30 on presents (see below).

On the productive side, I have managed to figure out and agree with oh, that we will reduce our sky bill to £10/month in order to get the record and rewind facilities, and then add sky sports for certain months of the year. I looked at getting a freesat box, but for the cost it wouldn't really make any difference. I also did my filing that I have been putting off for ages, and made marmalade, half of which is secreted away as little gifts when I need them in 2012.

I have also bought most of next years Christmas presents for £30. These are mostly tshirts from an ebay outlet, and other bits and bobs, along with a few recycled presents. I also plan to make labels, wrapping paper and cards with lo during the year, and do a little craft project each weekend. He is so sweet, every day he brings me his colouring case and his special chair, and we make something together - bliss! and money saving too - We have made all of the birthday cards we need until March!!

So Goodbye 2011 - a great year for us - the year that we paid off the mortgage, and gave ourselves lots of options. We also saved £29,781 ( although my dad has just sent us a cheque for 1k to keep little brother and I equal, but I haven't banked it yet!!) LO and OH continued to be the "meaning" in my life, and we had a lot of fun and laughs. It was also the year that I started to feel closer to lots of posters on here, and "met" a few new posters too - ALL of you are lovely.

And hello 2012 - I hope it provides even more opportunities for us all on here, and much happiness and laughter.
    Best wishes for 2012 xxx

Hi, yes, we must be, I was born in 1979 (I don't have much imagination when it comes to usernames!). I tutor Maths, just 4 or 5 hours a week really. I only registered in April this year so have yet to fill out a tax return - please let me know how easy (or not) it is!

And you REALLY don't want to see the state of my to do list ... :o the amount of things you achieve is very inspiring and I'm enjoying getting lots of ideas from your thread!

    Happy New Year!
  • Happy New Year Earthgirl! You've obviously achieved a lot this year. I've been subscribed here for a couple of weeks having first read your MFW diary in one marathon sitting. All the best for 2012!

Thank you! Can't believe you could stand to read my last diary in one sitting!

Anyway, NY eve was good, very quiet, but I was quite tired yesterday as I didn't manage to get much sleep. Yesterday was spent looking after oh and lo (oh had an amazing hangover, in fact I don't think he sobered up till today!). I did get him to finally agree to reclaim our ppi (this is amazing I have been on about it for years, but it was in his name..so very happy about this) and I also did some banking and tried to reclaim some lost pensions.

Today is my last day before going back to work tomorrow, until 10th of Feb Booo! I really love being off and pottering with lo - he does so much now and I feel now, more than before really, that I need to be with him more, so that the years don't pass in a flurry of working and getting organised for work!

My New Years Resolutions - they have a propensity to fail, so I am going to try to do more of these things, but I aware that I will not achieve them all the time!

1 - Put things away instead of near to where they should be.
2 - 3 stints of exercise per week and reduce cake and biscuit in take by 50%
3- continue to save as much as possible (I think a realistsic target would be 10k by May 2012)

So today I need to tidy away all the Christmas decorations, do my tidying in the back bedroom and attic, and get me and lo organised for tomorrow.
We are also going to go for a family walk.

In terms of going back to work, I have just got to get my work head on tomorrow - and focus on getting the basics done to reduce stress, and keep myself organised. Its just a job! Hopefully we will fall pregnant at some point this year, and then I can request part time work when I return.

When I return back to work I am going to miss oh and lo so much, but its not for long!! I need to get my tutoring organised when I am there as well.
