Earth girl what is it you do? Is it primary or fe? And what kind of tutoring do you do? What does your oh do? My oh is a teacher and between us we earn between 55 and 60k a year and I really wanted to reduce the mortgage or even pay it off. Your story is really interesting
I am a secondary languages teacher, and I do tutoring for all sorts of people and companies but my bread and butter is gcse and a level exam preparation.
Tutoring, and to some extent exam marking, make a big impact on our finances.
I can't really work out our combined income, but its less than yours anyway, so good luck with reducing your mortgage - stick with it an it'll happen in no time!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Blimey my oh finds it hard to do all the work as it is but would you say the tutoring is easier? Do you have any websites or anywhere we can look to get it started?0

DEFINITELY start early as it's a pain to do it in one hit and sometimes is easier to break it up a bit.
I have left it to the last minute SO MANY times and with soooo much stress... it's just not worth it!- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

I started with an agency, but they took about £5 / hour of my rate, so I would avoid this, and set up your own tutoring website.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Tax return completed, and I only owe £26 more than I had budgeted for, which is not too bad!
I have completed a big grocery shop - which cost almost £100 - but I had been only doing top up shops for the last few weeks and we needed loads of things - practically everything! Hopefully I will just need top up shops for the next two weeks.
We are going out for ny eve, but need to bring cheese, grapes and some wine, which is not too bad for an evening out on NYeve.
 Tomorrow I need to:
 -buy cheese and grapes
 - ebay
 - continue decluttering15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

I've just subscribed to your thread - so inspiring! I am also a tutor, though I don't manage as many hours as you, and a SAHM.
The downloadable book from the tutor pages is great, it has record sheets and contracts in as well which are useful, as well as lots of information. I would agree about not going through an agency, it's just as easy to set up yourself.
I did advertise on the tutor pages (cost £40) and on First Tutors (free, but clients pay to get your details), and got far more traffic through First Tutors, surprisingly.0
