Thanks for all the good advice everyone. I think I have heeded it all really!
We have decided not to rush into buying a new house at all - we love this one, we love the neighbours (its just the schools that are the problem!!) We will reassess in a few years, and just get what we can afford.
After living out here, I don't think we could live on an estate, we like the countryside too much, again not because its "better" just that it suits us, and oh needs plenty of outside space for his business. Something will turn up - oh and I even discussing self build!!! Don't think my nerves would take it!!
I agree with you all though, I think I need to lower my sights somewhat and go for a suitable house with good schools in the next few years.

Lovely day had here. I was up early and got my mum a calendar of little one delivered for 1.99p. I did the shred, but promptly ate lots of chocolate and cakes at work - never mind! I got lots of cards and presents at work, and it felt like the place was a bit more joyous and had a certain glow!!
I have managed to get away with no work to do over the hols as well, and I now have 2 whole weeks with lo and oh!!
I have checked for ms and can't get anything - maybe not the best time of year. I did my shop at mr l and got loads of shopping - almost 2 weeks - for £43.
To do list brewing in my head...must start with meal planning for the next 2 weeks.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Hi earthgirl. I have been following your thread for a while but don't post very often (sorry!). I just wanted to say how amazing you have been in paying off your mortgage and how you handle working full time with a baby - you do amazingly well. I agree with what everyone has said in that you deserve to relax and enjoy it. I will shortly be paying off my mortgage and starting saving for the next adventure (either buy a 'forever home' in a few years or BTL) so it is interesting to see how you are getting on now you are mortgage free.Mortgage free Jan 2012 ~ Savings £6,029/20,0000 ~ Savings £6,029/20,0000

            Hi all,
Yes my focus has definately softned! I am still doing the things that I should to save money and try to give us more choices, but I am very, very much enjoying the time with oh and lo.
When I am on holiday I think to myself ... this is like being part time, as I am off soooo much, I suppose its quite easy to forget just how stressful I find my job in term time - good job I have a diary of all my rants to remind me!!
Plenty of stuff done at the moment as oh is really quiet at work and he is sharing a lot of the baby care with me. and he is sharing a lot of the baby care with me.
Yesterday I have managed to reduce our sky bill somewhat, and I am going to try to get out of sky totally and use free view and top up tv. It will be much cheaper.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j
