What do you have on the floor?

If it is carpet then it will probably be that. If you have lino if it is not really well sealed at the toilet base sometimes 'dribbles' can seep into the wooden floorboards underneath.

Wooden toilet seats also absorb 'dribbles'. :(

My boys are pretty bad at aiming too so sitting down is a must in our house. :rotfl:

It has always puzzed me though why males need to lift the seat? Is a hole the size of a plate (or bigger) really not big enough to aim into??

Is it the floor covering around the loo, rather than the loo itself?
Is there any ventilation in the room apart from leaving the door open? If not, and as you're working on it being a shower room, might it be worth considering the installation of a fan now? Sorry, I know that's a bit of an expensive solution!

No ventilation as yet; there will be an extractor fan when and if we go ahead with making it a proper little downstairs shower room. At the moment it's just a bit of room we have under the stairs.

We have lino on the floor and I'm about to go and mop it again. We have a wooden toilet seat but generally S lifts it up and yes, I have no idea why a hole the size of a large plate is still too small for them! Boys eh!!!!

Bit of a grim question here but it has to be asked so here goes .... my lovely little son S who is 4 is using the toilet reliably but his aim isn't 'all that' and sometimes he forgets to pull the flush. The downstairs toilet is under the stairs and is just a toilet under the stairs - DH plans to fit a shower etc under there and there is no wall or anything like that; it's literally just a toilet under the stairs.

Now my problem is no matter how hard I clean, I can still smell wee .... sorry to be gross but it's true. I bleached the toilet yesterday and gave it a good scrub after a few hours and I've popped in one of those lemon thingies that goes in the actual cistern in the hope it will freshen it up but doesn't seem to be working. I'm not keen on air fresheners that stink the house out (neither is DH) but I'm not sure what to do to get rid of the niff that I can detect. I have a very good sense of smell, perhaps a bit over sensitive, but I know it's there.

    Any ideas please?

Surgical spirit cleans the smell of anything, used to use it when the pups were small and when DS used to have accidents with his mattress.

Ooh, thanks for that info; haven't had a problem as yet, but as most of my canine guests are little oldies, it's only a matter of time....;)

Mumof2 if you can't ask a question like that on the Flylady thread, where on earth can you ask it?:D I know what you mean though - I have a very sensitive nose myself, and can detect niffs that Mr LW is completely oblivious to. I'm sure S will improve his aim as he gets older.:o I do remember a former colleague telling us all about his little lad, who, if the colleague went into the bathroom just as the lad was "performing", lad would turn round and say "Hello Daddy" with the ...er... human hose still going!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

As for why they need a bigger hole than a large dinner plate to aim into.... <shruggy smilie> that, my friends, is just one of life's lttle mysteries. Unless, perhaps, we have a Flygent here somewhere, who could enlighten us?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi everyone. Running to catch up this week.

Was over the moon this morning to see a friend who moved to New Zealand a few years ago. She lives in Christchurch. I bumped into her and we had a great time reminiscing. They lost everything in the earthquake but are happy to be still here.

    Dailies done.
    Recycling sorted.

Will get a bit more done before have to go out again.

Hugs for Toots. Lady L and Lamewolf and all those who need one.

Having a cup of tea before taking Pip out for a walk. Done everything on the list except for these jobs: (and not made the beds yet .... but I will - honest!)

Wednesday - Bathroom and Study/Pc Area
Empty and clean out all the upstairs bins! (the proper bins not the rooms that look like bins!)
Clear a mega hotspot!.. shred it.. and fling it.. or just burn it!

      Wednesday
      Nursery run both ways
      4.30 Z to GP
      WM – hot wash
      Run DW

Spoke to DH on the Skype just a while ago; so lovely to see him - it's only 7.00 in the morning over there and he does look tired, poor chap. He's going to try to call Thurs/Fri at about this time so he can talk to S as he can only really call from his hotel room. He'll catch up with Z on the weekend.

ETA: beds now made, quick walk around the block with Pip who proceeded to roll in fox poo and is naaaasty so I'm going to have to give her a bath when I've got the kids, been to the GP and shoe shop. Why did I clean the bathroom before I took her out? Grrrrrrrrr. She's currently sat in her basket looking very smug - I'm about to shut her into her crate as going to go out and don't want her lying in her fox poo covered state on my sofa. Anyone want a lovely and oh so well behaved Jack Russell?

      Afternoon

Popped into the garden to sweep up and the time has wizzed by (well I did decide to finish pulling the forget-me-knots, water the garden, start sorting the dahlias, ponder what to move to where)

The blue tits have flown the wall cavity this morning. Feel bad as Woody has already had at least one blue tit, didn't see if it was a baby or parent. All that effort those poor birds have put in 16 hours plus a day for him to take one straight after breakfast. he is in disgrace and has not been allowed out.

Going to wash up and then time for the school run and DS3's squash lesson - bother forgot to get the meat out for dinner.
