Try driving in the USA with 7 lanes of traffic and no rules as to what you should be doing in any lane (other than trying not to get killed), scared me to death.

I always found the freeways easier to drive than the motorways from this aspect. Undertaking is a legally accepted practice on the freeways in the US and as such drivers are always aware of their surroundings.

I very rare use the 3 lane motorway as I mainly travel West towards Swansea, but 2 weeks ago I went to Brigend. I couldn't believe how many driver's stayed in the middle lane and no-one in the left, I was overtakling them on the right and moving back in the left all the time, it was annoying.

Why ? They left you the overtaking lane to do what you wanted to do , find it a bit of an effort ?

No I would imagine that CJ finds it concerning that there are so many idiotic and poor drivers using the motorways. The amount of money it costs to build a 3 lane motorway and these idiots reduce it down to a 2 lane. Yes, very annoying!

Every lane bar lane 1 is an overtaking lane per say. You do know how to drive on a motorway don't you ? Or do you find it a bit of an effort to read the highway code.

Everyone should be reading the road ahead as you drive and so avoid things that might be a danger to you.. keep yourself safe and don't rely on anybody else to do the correct thing..

But that's my argument - I am using the info on the gantrys to move out to the middle lane, but that information is wrong, I can't rely on it, but would it be more dangerous to stay on the 1st lane and then have to move to the 2nd lane at the last minute because I've just found that it IS a filter lane? If the gantrys gave the correct information, I could happily stay in the 1st lane.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
