How many middle lane hoggers are doing it because.........
Options
The gantry signs (on the M25/M1 anyway) don't give clear information - sometimes the next exit is indicated as being a filter for the entire inside lane (ie - the sign for that exit takes up 1/4 of the gantry, the remainder being for the M25/M1 or whatever road you are on) so the driver who is preparing ahead then moves out to the next lane so as not to be 'filtered' to somewhere he doesn't want to go, BUT the inside lane isn't filtered off, so he's left stranded on the 2nd lane - does he move back to the inside lane and risk being filtered again at the next exit, or stay where he is?....

I do it so that when I fall asleep I have an extra few seconds to wake up before the car veers into the central reservation or onto the grass verge.:cool:0

Most middle lane hoggers do it precisely because they feel that the speed limit on motorways should be 60, and seek to police other drivers around them.
The mere fact that so many of them become militant about it when confronted proves this as far as I am concerned.0 -
I've stopped moving to lane 3 in most cases now, f*ck them. Just pass them carefully in L1 ready to use the horn/hard shoulder as needed :rotfl:0

Please note that I have a private road with 3 lanes and a*sehole drivers who were invited there0

Circle game kilty. Remember the circle game.
(For the uninitiated: on a clear road, move out to lane 3, overtake, pull back to lane 1, slow down a little, let them overtake you again, rinse and repeat until their head explodes).

I've never truly understood why people do it. A while back I was in a friend's car and he was inexplicably sitting in the middle lane. He came up behind another vehicle doing the same thing and, to my absolute astonishment, grumbled about bad drivers who sit in the middle lane for no reason. The irony was completely lost on him.
I presume that most people who do it just aren't thinking. It is annoying, but there are more important things to get annoyed about.0 -
I put it down to them lending out their only brain cell to a friend for the dayThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
