Do mail order Evans items have different tags than shop items? Could you say the item was a gift, and you dont have the receipt, but the tag is still attached?

I'm at work now but, from memory of looking at the dress I got yesterday, the tag is identical to the one used in store.

The Evans website only suggests refunds rather than exchanges when returning to a store:

    http://www.evans.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogNavigationSearchResultCmd?catalogId=33054&storeId=12553&langId=-1&viewAllFlag=false&categoryId=271983&interstitial=true

Please let us know how that goes! Anyone who manages a refund or exchange, please tell us how that worked! I would think/hope that they only refund you what you paid after the discount, but an exchange should give you another item of equal value to what you bring in. As in -- you paid 3 quid for a 23 pound item after the discount, they should only refund you 3 quid. But they should let you swap it for another item in the store worth 23 quid, iyswim.

I never thought of saying the item was a gift to expedite an exchange. I don't know, once I say it was a gift, if they say they won't take it back without a receipt, there's no way I can then say I "found" my receipt! I'd prefer the refund of the 15 quid I paid for this item (I bought another item that cost more than the 20 quid discount in the same order, so technically they should be able to refund me for this item as I actually paid in 20 pounds before shipping and this item cost 15, but I realize now that will likely cause confusion -- if I'd only realized that when I ordered!).
