Bit like statistics isn't it? You can read into his statement what you like. However you have no evidence he has broken any speed limits have you?;) He may only have ever crept about the limit by 10% on his speedo so in that case as they read over he maybe one of the few who has never.0 -

I doubt any driver can honestly say they've never been guilty of speeding.0 -

I guess all those who passed their test last week, who took all their lessons with a driving school and haven't driven since can.;)0 -

Indeed not; in my experience most of the "safe", slow drivers are more guilty of continuing to do 40 through rural villages than anyone else.
Speeding at the least safe point; well done that man.0 -
Whilst speed is a contributory factor in a lot of collisions it is a variable one.
There are a lot of people on the road who may have passed a test at a given point that really shouldn't be out there.
We have all seen them and no doubt we have all had our moments too.
Trouble is cameras don't really address the real problems. They can hopefully filter a small percentage out.
Slow speed, fast speed in itself isn't the issue it is the way the "nut" (sorry couldn't resist) on the wheel/ handelbar, deals with it, that is IMO.
I personally have more time for those new warnings signs, around by us, that flash your speed at you and maybe a smilie in proper black spots."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
"big business is parasitic, like a mosquito, whereas I prefer the lighter touch, like that of a butterfly. "A butterfly can suck honey from the flower without damaging it," "Arunachalam Muruganantham0 -

Aye, they're pretty good. The ones that say "Please slow down" are anyway - those that simply say "Slow down" don't work for me. A little politeness ouwldn't hurt would it?0 -

No, it is not. What about the occupants of car they hit, or the pedestrian they mow down?
But then if it is there own lives they risk, what about the poor beggar who has to scrape them off the tarmac and collect their limbs from fields and bushes, the police officer who is tasked with telling the wife or mother, that they husband or son the said "cheerio" to, earlier that day (or worse, "I hate you"), is dead? What about them? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

You seem to have very conveniently ignored my caveat 'generally'
As to the Copper and the Medic - that's simply a part of the job they are paid to do.
I've know a few bikers and it seems their arguments are almost exclusively with stone walls (which their insurance pays to repair).0 -

And you seem to have conveniently ignored the whole point about the consequences of speeding on the lives of others.
I would much rather the police and medics were employed in doing something far more useful, than scraping some selfish idiot off the tarmac. I am surprised you don't.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
