Sorry ! I just read the op first post and replied, I was only trying to help
?
@meer53,
Nope, I don't work there, I was just suggesting that its a possibility that it doesn't cost them that much, Remember Banks are there to make money.
Haha ! I'd also tell you not to comment when you don't know what my account history is ! I manage my accounts fine, So much so i've now got a top current account with my main Bank after cleaning up my act and using the account properly, Instead of spending every penny i had.
So Don't comment on my financial history when you haven't got the faintest idea.
You provided your financial history by telling us that you'd incurred £300 in charges and had them refunded ! That information would give anyone a pretty good idea about the way you run your accounts. Good on you for improving things.
My comment was mainly about the way you TELL people to do things and then if that doesn't work, you would THREATEN them with further action. In my experience, this sort of attitude doesn't always help.
I was actually entitled to those charges back because they where taken in error over a pretty long time, And i may have over exaggerated the whole £300 comment, But yeah i was young and stupid back then, I'm now more grown up when it comes to finances, Credit Etc etc.
I was only explaining how i got my money back, Unfortunately the 'Nicely Nicely' Approach doesn't really work in this current financial climate.
Anyways, thats the end of that small indiscretion.' You only live once ! Don't live to regret the past, But to enjoy the future '

Ignoring the debate about whether you SHOULD have to pay this charge or not, the best chance you have of not paying is:
Go into your local branch, be extremely polite and apologetic - say that it was genuine mistake (which it was), and only a very small amount - ask if there is any way they can stop this charge just this once and be clear that it won't happen again.
It will stick in the throat, but its worth a try. I've only ever incurred one charge on a bank account, and that was when I was moving from one bank to another and my wonderful employer at the time decided not to change my direct debit details - an apologetic explanation got the charge stopped.0
