  • Martin, just a suggestion on one of your points above...what if a suitably qualified industry professional was given priviledges to edit or remove a post that could be dangerous to a borrower or investor? I'm sure there would be plenty of us willing to volunteer to do this.

Hey, it's nearly Christmas which is a particularly nice time for brokers to look forward to as it is generally our quietest period, so it's a Merry Christmas to all moneysavers from me.

    Eggnog anyone ?

:xmassign: :xmastree: :rudolf: I hope that "quiet period" happens to me soon, I'm exhausted! Merry Christmas to everyone else too.

MM, I think considering what's been going on, giving any of the brokers the power to edit/remove posts could inflame the situation further. As long as the various brokers post reasoned and rational arguments against such dangerous posts on the relevant threads, things should be ok.

I cannot dispute what you say, but, I think in time, when Kenshaz has been around for a while he may actually gain a better understanding of the board, and get to know the brokers who post regularly a little better, and mellow out. He will become enlightened and more tolerant in his own time, but for now, if he does what he says, and I believe he will, then I just don't see the point in isolating him anymore. lets just forget all this, draw a line under it. have confidence in him that he will desist in his recent behaviour, and move forward

  • I still don't agree with posts being tampered with unless they are abuse

It is giving that message that only those can post that are advisers/brokers, which is not the case. I am speaking a little from experience here, as originally i was not sure if i should post, because i was not a broker (that should not be the case)

just add your own opinion to the post. its an opinion and knowledge, rather than advice and then the original poster and others can look into it for real with a broker later. whats wrong with that?

MM. The problem will then be drawing the line in what is giving advice and what isn't and then where the responsibility and liability for that lies. Ultimately while it's often what happens, this isn't an 'ask an expert' forum, it's a Chat Forum; and therefore we must be very clear to treat all info from unknown sources carefully.

There's a bigger picture and a precedent out there. Actually my hope is that a polite note explaining the situation generally works better than being more draconian and that this situation is so rare that its unreliable.

It seem to me the problem has been fraction more over the broker issue than the answer issue; if you see what i mean, and my hope is we're all dealing with that.

After all what constitutes right from wrong without all the facts is actually a matter of personal opinion.

Even with 13 years mortgage experience I would not want to be responsible for editing posts to make them 'correct'. It then opens up the question of who is responsible for the edited advice. The Editor or MSE? Potential minefield and just what the FSA would be looking to get their teeth into.
