Just checked my bank statement on line and it has gone from -£3900 to +4900! :j
Before I get too excited I should say this is not paying off debt but moving it so my credit card balance has gone up by a fair whack as well (and OH got paid which helps too!). There is also a large mortgage payment and a cheque to the tax man still to clear off that balance so it won't look so remarkable for long!
But even though it is not really gone it does feel good to see that bank account in the black. Somehow debt on my card (at 2.9% at the moment as opposed to 7.9% coming in this month on the o/d) feels more concrete - I can see the amount owing and can tackle it head on - rather than being a floating amount that just eats our salaries every month.
I have also today set up regular transfers to budget accounts with Ing - holidays/christmas/car/dogs/house repairs/clothes/annual bills etc. So we are starting to get a grip.
My aims now are- to stay in the black on the bank account
- to pay any surplus at the end of the month as extra off the debts
- to repay £875 a month off the debts at least (the head to head challenge)
- to make an extra £460 a month to help with all this! (the olympic challenge)
- so far so good
- hoping there will be some
- have paid £805 so far so £70 still to go
- have made £492 since the challenge started in first week of January - £118 since 26th January so on course for this.

Quick update. Budgets going well - by my reckoning we are on course to come in within budget so far (most big expenses gone out - just food/spends/fuel to the end of the month). But the good news is that this includes having spent over £360 of "extras" - some of which are expenses so will get back eventually, some is on annual bills paid without withdrawing from the relevant budget account, a little is extra on the debt repayment. So we are off to a good start - the budget pots get a chance to build to cover future expenses and we still stay in the black - win win.
On top of that I also have £360 or so tied up in matched betting - this is now pretty much the profit from the last few weeks mb so is all extra too. :j
No room for complacency but am feeling pretty positive right now.0 -
And progress on aims ...mizmir wrote:My aims now are

- to pay any surplus at the end of the month as extra off the debts - will see what we have over the £875 - am hopeful!
- to repay £875 a month off the debts at least (the head to head challenge) - have got the £70 needed for this in matched betting so will transfer later in month
- to make an extra £460 a month to help with all this! (the olympic challenge) - £237 so far - and only 10 days into my month! :j

Things seem to be going well, stay focussed and you will get there.
I read the matched betting thread for the first time today. Will read it again tomorrow and perhaps even get as far as the practice spreadsheet.....will keep you posted.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Go for it. Once you get started there will be no holding you back. Coral have a good offer on at the moment - £50 deposit, £50 free bet - stake returned with no playthrough requirement - https://www.coral.co.uk/sun50
But don't do it until you are ready - no point in rushing and making mistakes. Feel free to PM me if I can help at all.0 -
Things are looking healthier!
Congrats on getting out of the red with your bank account!Miggy

Hi Taxi
Thanks!Am ok just very busy with work etc. so not around the boards too much right now. Working hard on balancing the books though and earning a bit more to try to set against the debts.
Sometimes feels like an endless struggle but we will win in the end huh?
