The olympic challenge is going well all round I think. I am on target but it is sustaining this level of ebaying that I am worried about. I may be selling the carpets and curtains, at this rate. And the children are not safe either
I paid an extra £50 off my egg card today. Not huge but every little will hopefully make a difference to my snowballs!
You can do the return online - at least I hope you can - not sure where my form is either!
LOL about the Olympic challenge - I am doing well at the moment but it is unlikely I'll be able to sustain it for another 24 weeks!!
Well done on the payment - every little definitely helps!0 -
Hi there,
I have been out of touch for a few days due to computer trouble - you seem to be doing well!
If it's any help, I was quite encouraged to read that debts can go up before it goes down despite best efforts in the other direction. I needed to hear that! <g>.
I signed up for Pigsback some time ago but I still have under 800 points - perhaps I'm not signing up for enough emails? Anyway you have inspired me to look more closely!Miggy

I go every day to the free clicks page on here and run through the competitions etc. - most of them are for a draw but a few are for instant points. I also sign up for any new email newsletters (just delete them - I get so much spam anyway I am used to doing that!) and click on the purple edges on offers for click throughs. I haven't bought anything apart from the pet insurance (points not through yet but should be 6000!) - but have 840 points from that. Think it will slow down now as there are fewer offers I haven't taken but still it isn't bad for nothing!0

Phew - just completed my accounts and worked out my tax (still have to do the return but have registered to do it on line). Looks like I will owe about £1100. Which of course I don't have.
Will have to get MBNA to BT it to my bank account - hopefully should get a low rate at least until July. And OH usually gets a rebate eventually which tends to counterbalance mine! Relief to have done it though. Remind me in April to do this year's then!

HI Mizmir
Well done for getting that done. This year for the first time ever I did mine in April. I've felt so relieved and virtuous ever since! I am looking forward to doing the next one in April 07 as well as I'm sure I'll be due a rebate.
I have to pay £800 by the end of this month and alas, it will come out of my overdraft at 16%.

Am definitely going to do my next one early - I can do without the extra stress in january - and once I get down to it, it only takes a few hours to sort out! The worst bit is tracking down all the bits of paper, trying to find the return, trying to find last year's spreadsheets (when I have used three different laptops since then!). Note to self: must gt more organised!

Well - I am off for a few days for a work trip so am unlikely to be on line much (unless there is a wireless connection in my room!
). So catch up with you all on Wednesday.
At least all my meals for the next 3 days will be paid for! :cool:0 -
Back home - no internet access but I did get free meals for 3 days so have saved that way!
Sold a couple of things on eBay as well so have made something towards my challenge but I would like to get a little more if I can - so back to matched betting and also must make use of the 10p listing day.0 -
Well finally will get paid tomorrow. It has been touch and go at times this month - sailing close to the edge with our overdraft limit - but we will end the month well inside it thanks to the Olympic Challenge and making an extra £373.99 in less than 3 weeks from eBay, matched betting and dog training!
Add to that big cutbacks in spending (have spent very little except budgetted stuff in the last fortnight) and things are looking much better as we get to payday. But boy has it been a long month!
Decided to change my avatar as well to celebrate reaching the end of a tough month - I quite like this new one. Maybe I will find a new one each month....! :cool:0 -
So all in all not a bad end to the month then? We have raised about £300 from ebay this month and got some more on there at the moment, a couple of which have bids on so hopefully another reasonable week.
I have paid off another £50 to the Egg card from ebaying, and DH did a little over £300 from his second (very casual) job over Christmas covering people's holidays, so that went straight off the MBNA card.
I also got a cheque for £532 yesterday from an old insurance claim that has taken 18 months to finalise and settle. We had almost written it off, so although I am not including it in my challenge total, it feels like money for nothing! Once that clears, I will pay it off a credit card - pick a card, any card!!
I also came up with a new way of seeing my debt repayment - I want to move house in a few years time, but the self cert mortgages seem to deduct debt from assets (only asset being our house) to get the deposit amount available. So by seeing every £1 paid off our debt as £1 house deposit instead, it actually seems like we are saving to move, rather than paying off horrendous debts. Not sure if it is correct, but it certainly seems more positive so has to be a good thing for me!
I am still plucking up the courage to read the matched betting threads. You seem to be doing so well, I need some of it!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
