Swooping should be made an offence. I'm sure most HGV drivers will agree with me. For those who don't know swooping is taking the exit at the last minute and cutting up drivers. There should be an offence that if you aren't in Lane 1 to exit by the 200 yard marker then you are guilty of swooping.

So if you are driving a Volvo it's ok, just not LGV? :o

LGV's, coaches or vehicle towing trailers/caravans cannot use lane 3 (on a 3 lane motorway) under normal conditions.

So as I understand it would be covered by the new FPN.

Waste of space, it'll only punish the honest drivers who have their vehicles correctly registered to there own name/address.
    The rest, will be untraceable......

Yesterday, two young lads in a Lexus power sliding around a busy traffic island (RWD). I remember thinking "what are the chances he's not insured and has that car registered to to a false name/address?", I feel sorry for the poor sod who eventually catches that car when it ploughs off the road!

And is covered by the existing laws

I’m always suspicious when governments announce a new “crackdown” on something that is already covered perfectly well by existing laws.

Experience tells me that it’s either revenue generation or a knee jerk reaction to a Daily Mail headline or will be used in ways even the most cynical wouldn’t have imagined when it was announced.

Frankly the last thing I want is more legislation

I get the feeling it's more because a lot of people are starting to wake up to the whole "speeding kills" thing.

Much like how they changed "global warming" to "climate change" when people started thinking/saying "hold on a minute, it's not snowed like this since the 1960's, how can it be warming????"

It also gives the Police powers to prosecute drivers who set out to antagonise others whilst not actually doing anything illegal.
We might finally see excessively slow drivers being punished!! :D

But as I mentioned above, it will do nothing to stop those who register cars to fake names (aliases) and/or addresses.

This is just one of those Government blurbs which are issued to give an impression of action but mean and will achieve nothing.
I haven't seen a traffic car on our A & B roads for years and the Policing budget has just been slashed . When I complained to the County Constabulary giving them the reg No of a car which had been making himself a real pest behind me in a 30 zone they just said "Cant do anything without an independent witness".

Maybe, but does it add anything positive to the existing system?

Well then when the cop pull them to hand them a ticket they'll loose the car.

If it going to done remotely when the cop sees the plates he'll run plate check find it's not insured and give chase.

Saying it won't work is like saying laws on drug dealing doesn't work because there not always a cop around. They do reduced numbers as bad drivers will get caught eventually and fine will help to make them think again.

I think its more of red tape reduction than anything.
