Oh Listerbelle- put me on the list for a link to your blog when its up and running, I love having a nose around.
I am amazed people just get content onto the page!
I find I can write on and on (and on!) about stuff I'm actually interested in, but not stuff I think *should* be interesting :)
Damn Karma 12G's on a dress, for one day
They never needed to be on mse, thats for sure
We have been busy looking into what we are going to do next, so not just chillaxing- we are still in business mode 5-6 days a week, the only difference in some of those days we get to have a cheeky lie in :j
I would have hopped we have the next chapter up and running by spring next year (sounds ages away), but the reality with getting the right place, and then everything to set up etc this will probably be the time scale.
We have cast the net, so just waiting for some bites, and also continuing to look.
There's a kind of start up time inside your head, isn't there. Hope you and OH find the right path forwards for you both.
It does, but it also potentially gets me banned from Adsense for fraudulent clicks, so please only click if it's something you're genuinely interested in :D
Ooh, good point. It has to be built right, doesn't it.

I got home on Thursday to a letter from a solicitor, I couldn't for the life of me think what is was about. To my surprise it was a cheque for £5000, which I had been left by my great aunt. This is going to be a massive help paying off my debt, although I was left feeling a little hollow about it all. That is down to the circumstances in getting the money but also the fact that I wanted to pay the debt off myself.

Don't get me wrong I am very greatful for the money it just feels a bit strange ( it is the first time I have inherited money). I guess I feel that I should be doing somehing more worthwhile with it rather than paying off debt.

The tRouble with inheritences is they can feel a bit like "blood money". It can be hard to divorce the money from the death of someone close to you that allowed that money your way. However, your aunt bequeathed the money to you, she wanted you to have it so try to feel pleased for her sake. It would make her happy.

I'm not sure that I would use it to pay off debts to be honest, unless of course you really need to. Judging from your signAture you seem to be managing very well and are just about there.

Why not compromise, put the money away into a decent Savings account for now and see how you go. It can be an emergency fund for the time being, then when your debts are cleared and your finances are stronger you can either spend it with her blessing or invest it.

    Your choice of course.

Minxy - good to hear that you have resolved some of the issues you were struggling with. Sounds like you have some good plans for the future. Looking forward to hearing the next instalment.

Yes the cat is doing well thanks.

It's still early days and possibly I am being a bit pessimistic but I think he will probably be left with a slight limp but at least he doesn't seem to have the level of nerve damage we were told might be an issue. The vet did fear that he might need a leg amPutation but I think he's in the clear now. He has become quite "clingy" and want lots of cuddles. Hardly surprising, he's had a rough few weeks, poor little sausage.

This time next week I shall be crossing the Atlantic.........wahoo. Will drop in say farewell before I go. Still got quite a bit to do yet.

My DS1 came up with an idea for a little sideline business for me.

Apparently he was telling his friends how I have been making Home made ready meals for DS2. It was the cause of much amusement until several of them said that they wished that they could have someone do that for them.

He asked them if it was something they would pay for and the answer was "Hell yes, what's not to like".....

Now I wouldn't want to go into full scale production - too much red tape and health and safety regulations - but as a discreet little hobby sideline providing simple healthy meals to a handful of people.

I will look into it. I'm sure I could do any necessary food hygene courses etc for a licence and public liability insurance etc.

Anyway I have said I will give it a trial using DS1 and future DIL as Guinea pigs, tasters and to work out some costings.

OK I'm no Nigella :rotfl: but people do seem to enjoy my cooking and it is something I enjoy doing but I'm just not sure how far I can scale up and still keep food healthy, of good quality and tasty.

If you were working long hours, and wanted some good home cooked ready meals what would be your favourite dishes..........

As it is my parents that I am paying back I am going to transfer the money over to them. As they are looking after my money I don't really need an emergency fund as such as anything that crops up they cover and it gets added to what I owe them. I know that from that point of view I am very lucky.

I was already planning on going to visit a mate in Canada next year so I can use some of the money towards that. I guess that if I do use it to pay off the debt it will mean that I won't have to sell any of my shares when they mature in Sept so in a way I am investing it without investing it, if you see what I mean?!

I'm not sure what happen to your cat LL but it sounds like better news than you first thought which is good news. You must be getting rather excited now, I hope you have an amazing time on your cruise.

Muhren - that's a tricky one, and LL's idea is a good one. In the end, you have to do what's right for you, but there's also the thought of looking back thinking "I wish I'd done something lasting with that money".... take your time over your decision. I sometimes wish I'd thought that over my 21st birthday present, believe it or not! I got luggage, which I thought would last forever. It didn't of course; my sister got a Burberry mac, which *has* lasted forever, is now vintage, and worth squillions! Silly, really, but there you go.

LL - glad to hear the good news about your puss. And your potential new career!

Thanks Karma. We will find the right road, although I am sure we will take lots of turns and change directions on our way as we always see to do :rotfl:

His little limp can be cat swagger. Glad he is on the mend though, he will be missing you whilst you are gallivanting.

Things I would like to eat this time of the year after a hard days work, which could be easily heated/finished off cooking... fish pie, tagine and spicy cous cous, veg lasagne (much prefer than meat), sausage casserole, ratatouille, casserole's , moussaka, beef strogonof, buritto.
Is they dont mind a little cooking you could provide portioned ingredients/spices/herbs etc with a little recipe card- which would expand the offerings, like a casserole slow cooker pack.
I know this sounds mad for MSE'ers but people do really pay for this type of thing, also if you did want to expand supported housing for older people would be an idea.
Any way I am shutting up as getting away with myself!

    Thanks for menu ideas, Minxy.

Yes - meals for seniors would also be a good avenue to develop. We already do this for dad, although his palette is a bit underdeveloped..... He's no foodie, just a meat and two veg man. We tend to do plates of traditional roasts, shepherds pie etc. A. Lasagne is about as exotic as it gets for him.....

The idea of part finished "easy assembled" meals is a great idea, you could go quite "gourmet", with exotic sauces and prepared marinades......yes I can see the possibilities.

    Getting quite excited now.....;)

Those are great ideas. There are plenty of elderly people in private sheltered housing who mostly eat ready meals from places like Waitrose.

LL- My Gramps is totally opposite with his food, he is 89 and really into a variety of food from all over the globe.
He was making his own spice rub for some jerk chicken last time I popped over (he's not from the Caribbean).
