That really is great news
I've had a bit of an upturn in my income recently as I'm letting everyone know that I'm retiring!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Good Morning Fellow Millionaires in Waiting..
How are we all.
As you can see Im up with the larks this mornjng, all bright eyed and bushy tailed and I ve not even had my caffeine fix yet.
I cannot tell a lie I have been dojng naff all this last week or so. I have been a real lotus eater, lying around in my deckchair soaking up all the glorious sun we've had this week.
and I'm utterly unrepentant, i have enjoyed every minute. When ive not been outside lazing around I have been pottering about dojng not very much at all.....it's been bliss.
I did manage to haul myself off to the shops on a couple of clothes buying trips and I did squeeze in a much needed dentist appt. There goes another £200 - at least I can claim that back off my health insurance.
Despite my sloth I have managed to,lose 10 lbs and I also shaved about 25 per cent off the housekeeping bill so September wasn't entirely a wasted a month.oh and I have made a tentative start on my Christmas shopping.
Caz - what fantastic news about the grants. That will be a great help to you.
And Kay - well done you, what fantastic progress. This time next year, Rodders.......
Well only 5 weeks to go to my cruise, so I am hoping to continUE with the weight loss and try and reduce my housekeeping bill a bit more. I won't get back until 10th December so I will also need to concentrate on getting ready for Christmas because I won't have a lot of time when I get back.
So..... My focus for October is holiday prep and Operation Christmas. Anything else will be a bonus.
Have a good month.0 -
Morning guys,
Another Wednesday post. Congratulations on your retirement KC :-). I will look into that macro lens but forcing myself not to spend a penny.
I have to admit my bubble has burst somewhat, my eldest is screaming the house down at every little thing. Yesterday on the walk home from Nursery he literally cried all the way home it was embarrassing to say the least I walked off three times the first two times he came running after me the last time he just sat on the ground crying.. all because he wanted to go another way or because he wanted to hold the other hand (I'm not wanting to give into the silly demands as it means he will make more in future, hoping he will realise he can't have his way 24/7)
This morning he was playing up again but I had the foresight to take the double pram and told him he was going home to bed if he didn't get in...which he did under protest. Just couldn't be dealing with him screaming at me all way to school.
On photography front I took some friends out sparkler shooting over the weekend, it went well for my first attempt but my hand writing isn't the best as it is...so writing with sparklers is not something that comes easy to me but I am going to spend time practising in the garden when I get chance.
That said, I got a sharp shot of my friends with some sparkler trails so I'm happy (the trick is to keep the couple sharp, as you need a long shutter speed to make the sparklers which would make any moving object also blurry if that makes sense) so whilst the overall picture isn't 'wow' people seem impressed with it and it's just a starting point. I think if I can get this down and get some decent 'wow' shots it will be something to pull customers in + it needs to be done late at night so I can charge more for staying that late and I'll need an assistant so I could charge more for that (or really the best man etc would do but I don't *have* to tell them that sorry if that sounds mean!)
I just can't be doing with this area anymore. It's getting me down. Monday on my walk to school a man was out walking his dog drinking beer, there was glass all over the pavement further down. Dog muck a bit further down, in general just rubbish tipped everywhere.
You drive 10min into a different area and it's SO nice. People jogging and walking the dog kids playing nicely...etc !
Honestly I'd consider selling up and renting just to get the kids into a decent school but I don't think we could even afford it now. When we first started out it was £450 for a 3 bed in this area and now they are around £600 for a basic one, considering our mortgage is around £400 and we would want to move for the better we would be looking at £700+...
I just think if we could just afford that 200k house instead of the 90k we are in now how much better off we would be...area etc the lot. I've got the cogs turning again about expanding my main business but I don't *want* to I just want to start bringing in more money..but I said to my hubbie even if I did I'd need to work 60ish hours a week to make a proper wage off it and I just can't do that round the children.
I know it's not going to happen over night, and I think my photography is the way forward but I just want my children to have a better life. I don't want to 'make it' when I'm 40 and the children are already grown but I don't want to sacrifice my time with them...can't have it both ways.
I guess I'd better get on anyway and do something productive this morning!People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
It can be so tough when you don't like the area you live in, Kaya - I feel that way now, after my downsize. In my situation (thanks for the congrats on retiring next year, by the way!) its helped - I don't need to struggle to hold on to my house, because I don't like the area, or the party wall neighbour, and selling to move into a flat, as long as it has good soundproofing (which I'll work on first thing) it'll be great.
For you, I agree on the photography, thats the way to go - its so highly paid per hour, comparatively, its great for you, but it will take timeYou are doing well, you know!
My productive thing this morning is using my Annual Pass to a local National Trust property for the last time before it expires, I don't want to renew, it's outlived its usefulness - one less expenditure next year.
Workwise - the decluttering is *definitely* having an effect, more space, I'm rearranging files etc so that they're on hand where they need to be, rather than stashed somewhere because everything is too full. There's a bit more to do, but I'm starting to get the hang of things. I went to an autumn fair last weekend with my sister, and got material there for a facebook post (I'm still here, type material) and a proper blog post, for the cat blog. Thats good!

My decluttering is at a stand still.
But I am having a new desk delivered today, so I can throw the boxes and wood that my sewing Machine was on.
As I was typing this the delivery man came and he put the desk up.
This has taught me online is not always cheaper! !! The desk was £25 including delivery and putting it up.
I was looking online at desks for £30+ that were all self assembly.
Now I need to really declutter. I am missing one more thing to get my dress making going and that's a tailor's dummy.
Having a bit of a dilemma, on sale next week at Lidl is a over locker for £129, I get paid on the Friday so might stand a chance of getting one. I get paid from my part time job every 2 weeks. so my options are buy the machine next week and stick to a very frugal budget for 2 weeks, or save up for a few weeks and miss this deal and pay £189 for the machine.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

If you are going to be buying something anyway in a few weeks, just get it now. 100%.
My Dad's always said that he's always been 'rich' living in a small house, it's the large houses that seem to drain any excess income so he always preferred to live in small 3 bed (which is fine for 2 people anyway and he lives in nice areas)
So hopefully it will work out for you KC, if it was just me and the husband I would be happy here. Having children takes up so much space and they deserve to have a decent garden to play in.
That said he is living in a large 4 bed atm in the 'nice' area I was talking about above but he rents half downstairs out so I am guessing that balances out the excess.
I've done some de-cluttering today which is something and I will get back to it now.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Night Ryder, I'm with Kaya - get it now! Are you sure thats the best deal? Is there a trusted seller on ebay? Is that the right overlocker? Oops, I was looking at sewing machines the other day, and saw overlockers in there - I don't even know what they do, tbh, so apologies if I'm being completely ignorant - erm, because I *am* completely ignorant!
I think it will work out for me, Kaya, thank you - that may not mean being a millionaire, but it might. My trip to the National Trust place was very motivating - I met the man who currently has the Art Exhibition there, he was really nice, and really inspiring: he said "I'm 60, and I've never been so happy"!!!! Thats how I want to be, and its how I feel when I focus on what I want to do, never mind whether it pays well or not - it *will* pay well, when I actually focus on it.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks Kaya, I'm going to get one now.
Karma the 60yo just made me go awww, that's how I want to feel too. nearly there. That feeling can't be bought.
Yes the over locker is what I need. It cuts down the time for seams and is easier. £129, is the best deal and it's a Singer. I have checked everywhere, even the refurbished ones go for £150, fingers crossed I find a Lidl with stock.
I have worked out there are 4 within a short bus ride, going to get up early on the Friday. I'll be the woman on a mission.Lose 28lb 3/28lb
