    Kaya,
My youngest still behaves like that and she is 6. She has full on melt downs over things like not putting her hair how she wants it. I am of the same mindset that I wont give in to her but everyone keeps telling me its more than just tantrums as she is 6 now and should know by now that she wont get her own way. Im hoping its more that she has regressed due to daddy moving out but to be honest daddy wasn't around very much from her being about 4 so she has known him NOT be around longer than be around if that makes ssnse.
I feel your pain though and think you are doing the right thing by staying firm. I once took my son out of a full shopping trolley and just walked out of Tesco when he tried acting up...it was the only time he ever has done. Hes 10 now and gives me no trouble at all

Honestly, if there was more understanding of the physiological development going on in little ones, people wouldn't be so quick to judge, I hope. Their neurological systems are developing in leaps and bounds, and all those new nerves have to get coated in "myelin" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myelin which takes time, and means that tantrums and explosions are almost bound to happen. And Tink, you're right - new/revisited events to process mean regression - not just daddy moving out, but new events - new social things, school, new class, new teacher, new after school events, your new routine, its a lot to keep up with. It feels like a crisis, I'm sure, but its a *developmental* crisis - i.e. its completely normal for human beings! I bet both of you are doing absolutely fine :)

As for my own millionaire plans - I've been reading a couple of reports from www.authorearnings.com - fascinating stuff! Reading my own novel :D downloading the free ones on the kindle list where it would go, and generally mucking about on my last few days of holiday :D

    Good morning all

    What a week.

On Tuesday evening our cat was knocked down by a car. The injuries are severe, a broken pelvis. He had surgery on Thursday and now has two pins holding him together. Poor baby.

The vets bill is an arm and a leg...but he's worth it. The insurance doesn't quite cover the full costs - orthopaedic surgeons don't come cheap.......so ive had to lend my son the balance.

Re - children - im no expert psychologist but I think they can suffer severe stress when faced with new circumstances or challenges, the ability to deal with change is something we all have to learn. Children also often suffer from sensory overload, trying to process new experiences.

They cannot always articulate what they are feeling so often their frustrated attempts to communicate Are misread as "naughtiness" - hence the typical supermarket tantrums......

The outside world can often be seem huge, noisy, and totally overwhelming. I dislike large crowded public spaces and I am 5 ft 7 - it must be really scary for small people when all they can see is legs.

It doesn't help when the parent is themselves stressed, busy, distracted.

I agree with Karma - you are both loving caring mothers and you are doing fine.

Karma - I hadn't realised you are now officially retired.:T:T

Congratulations. I agree with that NT guide, I am loving my retirement I couldn't be happier - well I could if OH was here to share it with me but I ok really. I am glad that I have now achieved financial freedom. My pension income is plenty, my various money making schemes are just extras.

Yes I'm still on my journey to millionairedom - ok make that £300k in my case - but I do this because I want to not because I have to.

And that's the difference, the sense of freedom is wonderful. Never again will I have to drag myself out to work to do a job I hate and which leaves me drained.

To me financial freedom means freedom of choice.

Using our poorly cat as an example - my son wanted to be here to nurse and comfort the cat but he has had to go into work. I can stay at home and be here and play nursey.

Did anyone see a programme on TV called "Britains Flashiest Families"
I think channel 4 or 5. I think most of them were self made millionaires.

One young man aged 27 was a great example of what hard work can achieve. Your classic non academic child, written off by teachers, told he would never amount to anything. He managed to get them to allow him to leave school at 15. His first business was selling burgers from a clapped out van. Now he has a business customising prestige cars andus a multi millionaire.

Who says flipping burgers has to be a dead end job.....it can be a stepping stone.

So sorry about your cat hope things go well :(

Just popped on as I read an inspirational quote about horse racing although I think it can be applied to a lot of circumstances..

If someone offered to buy my horse and it got permanently injured over the next few days I might lose a few days sleep over the money I had lost but if that horse went on to win the championship in someone elses hands I would lose sleep for the rest of my life.

I guess it was written better then that but really makes you think, isn't it worth taking a chance sometimes because even if it doesn't pay off, it's better then knowing you never tried.

Good morning fellow millionaires to be

Just a quick update, cat seems to be doing well, can weight bear a bit, hes eating well. He is confined to a cage which he hates so I have been housebound, keeping him company. He seems to have a bit of separation anxiety but gradually thAt is improving. Honestly it's as bad as having a baby in the house.:rotfl:

Another vet appt tonight to check his progress. More money. ;)

    So not much happening here.

I'm still spending for England - replaced my broken kindle and treated myself to a small simple camera for my holiday.

Other than that not much at all, weight loss Is slow but steady - about a lb per week and still managing to keep a tight rein on household spending.

Got a tax rebate of £50 and juggled some money around to maximise interest.

Bought my train tickets well in advance for the rail portion of the holiday, and even though I splurged on first class I got a great deal, getting some vouchers and discounts by joining some loyalty club scheme - it was free to join and I get £20 off my next tickets and vouchers for various other bits and bobs,so all good.

Ive also booked flights and accommodation for Barcelona next May. DS1 and his future bride will be having a church blessing and some wedding celebrations with the Spanish friends family,so I decided we may as well stay for a week and have a holiday whilst we are at it.

DS2 hasn't had a proper holiday for years, so As it will be his 30th birthday that week it's on me.

So yes quite a bit of spending but by forward planning and by buying tickets etc in advance I have actually saved quite a bit - so not all bad.

No selling, trading or earning though - probably not until the NewYear becauseit's only 3 weeks until my holiday, coming back on 10th December and then straight into Christmas.

    Hope you are all well.

Where's Young Businessman these days - hope you are ok.

Glad your Cat is doing well :)

Not much to update here wedding 4 done, I was only there 2 hours and took 1000 photos which is just ridiculous normally I would shoot 1000 over say 6-8 hours... but I knew I was only there for 2 hours so I didn't worry about how much I was shooting I took diff angles and I had a new lens (well new first time using it at a wedding I did mention it before don't worry I've stuck to my no spending lol) which zooms in and out so I was snap happy. I looked down at the amount of shots once I was about done and I was just a bit like wth.. (1000 shots over 2 hours is about 8 photos a min to put that in perceptive)

They are coming out with over 150 photos for 2 hours so I am hoping they will be over the moon...I love some of the photos can't wait for them to see them. I've been a bit torn as theres a lot I wouldn't want to include but I keep telling myself if it was my wedding I would want to see them so whilst some are just the Bride and groom chatting to someone nothing really going on I've just put them in regardless.

Money has gotten stupid...I don't know what happened. I think we are getting more in now so I've not been keeping an eye on our spending and OH has gone a bit manic.

Not sure if I said but his Mum gave him 1k (well us) but I said as I had spent so much on photography stuff he could do what he wanted with it....so what happened he went on a massive spending spree and spent OVER the 1k! I wasn't happy but not much I could do by the time I worked it out...then they gave us a car (sorry were being spoilt atm as they have the money from house sale in the bank) and paid the insurance...but we had to buy a new battery and car tax (petrol wise I hope shouldn't change to much as I don't use my car during the day)

So to that end my OH got paid today and I've done some major money control...our CC which is normally £450 was £1,270!!! £300 or so of that was my OH's PS4 which I put the money aside and some was business purchases so I had about £420 in the pot extra but that STILL means we've over spent by £400 on the credit card...lets not mention the fact I dipped into savings this month as the main was a bit low...

I'm actually applauded I let it get this bad I'm supposed to be good with money ... to that end this is going to be a tight month back to spending X amount a week and that's it - credit card is being left in the car and is only to be used for shopping and petrol which is what it's meant for.

Got Christmas coming and my partners birthday this month which is going to have to come out of savings considering I worked out we had about £200 spare after all the moving around to pay this CC off but hopefully after Xmas we'll be back on track and I do have £300 put aside for xmas (which sounds a lot but if we spent around £15 on everyone and £50 on our two kids it works out over 400...sigh. not sure where we can cut corners there)

  • Ll where are you off to on hols? Was it a cruise? I agree about the booking holidays way in advance to make a saving good thinking!

Kay great news, can't believe you're on wedding 4 already, maybe check out the quick grabbit board for gift ideas, there is money to be saved that's for sure.

Looks like my saving for a over locker will continue. judging by posts in another forum there were Limited machines and people lining up at 8am or staff reserving them, there is something else I will get from Lidl as it is still a saving.

Nothing before it's time as they say.
