Still here ... chucking out masses of things I don't need any more, to make space for things I *do* need
all part of the millionaire plan. Actually, tidying is one part of that - a year or so late, I really want to get some cat designs done, for Christmas, so that means decluttering the only space I can work on, the kitchen table
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I'm still here too......
This past coupke of weeks I have been living the life of Riley, lots of getting out and about with the new rellies. We have been sightseeing, eating and drinking and making merry.
They go back on Monday so it's the farewell bash tonIght so they are cooking a venezuelan style dinner - should be fun......
Ive also had a bit of spend fest....
First the boring travel insurance and the car service, car insurance.
On Tuesday went to Ikea and bought "lots of gorgeous little things, dahlings" and ordered some new sofas.
Then today I splashed out and had my hair done.........
So it's all been spend, spend, spend and not a penny earned. :rotfl:
I have finally got the cross trainer set up and have using it, just a few minutes at a time. I am disgustingly unfit and need to build up slowly.
I have been doing quite a bit in the garden.
Downstairs decorating all finished - it looks fab. The rellies came round and gasped, saying how beautiful it looks, so that's quite gratifying. Next door is also being done up by a coupke of amateur priperty developers. They are making a great job of it so that will enhance our house too.
In fact last week I counted 6 houses being done up in our little street, and activity in some of the surrounding streets. I am monitoring the area, I do a walk round the neighbourhood every month or so. I think the area is about to lift off. FIngers crossed.
After my holiday I shall buy the next one. I have a watch list on Right Move and have my eye on a few possibles.
Kay - I hope you are ok. Look after yourself and get well soon.
Karma - yes Christmas will be on us before we know it. I don't get back from holiday until 10th December so I will need to do some prep before I go.
Decluttering - I have gone about as far as I can go for now, because until Ive bought the next house Im not sure what I need to keep. Most of it is boxed up in the cellar - you can hardly move down there....
So in the meantime I have decided to paint some of the furniture in this house although I need to finish a few exterior jobs before the weather turns.
Bush, busy, busy as always......wouldn't have it any other way really.0 -
I'm in Vienna on holiday at the moment, but my solicitor is back from her holiday now, so hopefully I might have a croft update waiting for me when I get home0

hello all!
Much of the same my end, clearing debts, working hard and have a lot more breathing room!
Went down to my fellas mums allotment today and came back armed with carrier bags full of onions, spuds, tomatoes, courgettes, peppers etc...that's my weekly shop done haha
My fella is one of these that is a massive believer that we have no clue what the elite have planned for us little people and with the media attention on the current refugee crisis he is of the opinion we are in big big trouble.
I don't know what to think and certainly have tried doing a bit of reading up...
anywho he has said because of all the uncertainty he thinks we should try and get any 'dreams and wants' done and not wait for 'when I get my legs straight' as my mum always says.
Which means we now have 3 holidays booked for the next 12 months, money being filtered into accounts for the kids and we have applied for a nice car on lease that ive always wanted.
All well within our budget and our finances are getting really good no (as in, we have very little debt left in the grand scheme of things)
I know that may sound really crappy when all these people are fleeing for their lives but we are doing it from the stand point of we could spend our lives trying to get straight when we don't know whats round the corner.trainee millionaire (aka not there yet!)0 -
Tinktay - good to hear from you.
Tbh I dont know what to think either. Ive been watching some footage on tinterweb that has not been shown on the news.
Your fella could well be right, I think we are being kept in the dark and there could be tough times ahead.......
I hadn't realised until this weekend just how bad things are in Venezuela - my future DILs home country. Her family have been here this last couple of weeks and go back tomorrow.
They have played it down but I could see they are worried. I think they might be forced to get out. They are waiting to see what happens in the next election, but it seems that the military more or less rule the country anyway, no matter which government is supposedly in power.
Fortunately they have EU passports so can get out.
How do we protect ourselves. I dont know.
I think filtering some money for your kids is a good idea, paying down debt if you can is also a good strategy.. Holidays - why not.
If I have learnt anything in this life it's that we can never know what fate has in store for us.
As Martin Lewis always says - prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
I would suggest keeping some money in actual cash for emergencies.0 -
Actually, I agree with your fella, Tink - and let's face it, there are dozens and dozens of examples of the business and political "top" bods setting up secret arrangements, as well as the media focussing on some things and not on others. I think the bubble that seemed to be popped in the financial crisis is worse than ever now ... remember that phrase that was used about the Greek situation, "kicking the can down the road" - thats happening with everything. Check out this thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4065593
which is the mse preparedness thread. I'm not taking part much at the mo, because the last few days are political and I'm not interested in discussing that online - online, I'm for the practical stuff only. But there's a huge amount of practical knowledge on there, and signposts to a lot more.
It's such a huge problem, this flood of refugees, and for all there are people driving buses towards them with donated goods, there's very little to be done individually - you have kids of your own, LL is only just getting straight after bereavements and upheavals, my income has collapsed and because I'm ill I don't have a way to fully support myself right now.
So there *is* a sense of "okay, lets do it now" about a holiday or a car or whatever - being prudent, yes, but thinking, oh my word, what's around the corner?
In that spirit, I've bought a dehydrator! Not unpacked it yet, but its there. My ambition is to dry enough greens to make my own pesto, that'll do for starters2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I appear to be on course for my first blogging earnings! I set up Google Adsense on it a couple of weeks ago and estimated earnings from September have gone from 0.00 to 45p
Whether that translates into actual earnings remains to be seen, but I'm chuffed to bits anyway!

Gosh it really is scary how fast things can change. I've always thought the UK is not the best place to me as we always seem to be involved with everything... I'm sure there are a few nice countries that stay out of the lime light but it seems the UK despite being so small always gets pulled into the middle of everything...
You're almost making me want to go spend every penny we have on a nice holiday and keep suicide pills under my bed 'just in case'.
It's a shame the world could quite happily live in harmony, feeding all the people ...all of us driving nice cars, living in big houses eating what we desire if only we all worked together. It only takes a few bad people after money/power/religion in power to cause such chaos.
Had gone into the dentist with wisdom tooth pain to only have to have a tooth out on the other side...which went wrong so now awaiting surgery for it. Happy days. They are looking after me though but I lost 3-4 pound purely as I was only drinking milk as eating was just not worth the pain.
I guess it's a drop in ocean to what people are going on in the world, but again it's the question you lend a helping hand and get these people set up in other countries and the ISIS use it to send their soldiers in...you can't win.
I am desperate to get my hands on a few thousand so I can buy myself a Mac, iPad, two lens and get a website set up... (ok the iPad isn't a necessity, but it would help for client meetings...) and just found out paypal will give me a 3k loan based on my previous sales...so so tempting but I will resist.
May be worth considering for future though as the interest rate isn't bad, but I must focus on sorting paperwork side of my business out first and paying my Dad back the short term loan.
We've just brought a king size bed for £250 which included mattress etc, and I was looking round our bedroom last night thinking how far we had come. Whilst it is only a new bed, our home is starting to fill up with nice things (although not ness matching hehe) and my two businesses are coming along nicely...I do love my life and if I could just get the time to follow down the path I am going with the people I love then I would of lived a happy life...so fingers crossed to everything working out and us all staying one healthy family cause it's amazing how fast 1 day can change everything xPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0
