    That's a great story, LL ... and Tink, that's a great tip :)

I've been weeding and digging up brambles again yesterday evening - got to be done, for the future sale *or* to live here "properly" ... I found a photo of the same spot taken in March of last year, and it's completely bramble-free, which shows how quickly it can all go Pete Tong if you don't nip things in the bud, so to speak ... still, even at my slow rate of progress, I *do* feel like I'm making progress.

    I hate slugs........:rotfl:

Brambles have a life of their own.........

Ive never seen so many slugs and snails in my life. Perhaps I should give up and turn the garden into a snail, farm and sell them to,posh restaurants - except I cannot bear to handle the horrible slimy creatures......

Great tip there TInks, might only be saving a few shekels but it all adds up.

Going to,roll up my sleeves today and start prepping for our decorating marathon.......

I can see it being hot and unpleasant work - it's extremely humid here. We had a few rumbles of thunder last night but it just fizzled out.

We really need a storm to clear the air and cool, things down a little.

we had loads of thunder and lightening last night but it was a few miles away so we got the lashing of rain but its still muggy.

We were over run with snails but the chickens are partial to them so we now have shells rather than snails

    Hi Guys,

Just a bit of an early morning ramble as I had a nightmare (Ok it wasn't actually that bad at all but it woke me up, aren't I to old for nightmares?)

I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do and I've come to a decision that I'll be closing my main business down around March next year, I want to get Xmas out the way cause hopefully I'll be looking around £1-3k profit for Nov/Dec and I just can't turn my nose up at that but I want to focus on my photography, not only do I want more time to invest in building my photography business but I want to explore all areas (i.e landscape, flash, portraits) so my wedding photography will have more of a base to stand on and look towards building some passive income of information blogs or websites based around photography.

I'm aiming to pull myself up to around £200-£300 mark price wise in short future, but for now I've done a package deal of £99 for 6 hours for any dates over next few months but it's all about building trust in this market, so many horror stories of bad photographers which I've been looking at to not make the same mistakes but quite honestly it's just a bunch of idiots (no word of a lie I was looking at one earlier where they had made him hand over all the files from the wedding and the photographer had pictures of womans boobs and bums !!)

Most complains are wedding photos not being delivered but I have back up equipment in place and last night I was training my OH on my second camera so I may even have a second shooter in the long run...who knows. Would work quite well because he can go do Groom prep and he's got the personality for it just need to build up a photography side if he wants to and I lack on the personality side (I've always been a bit on shy type and I don't get on with people easily, I'm nice enough but just don't click with people where as my husband is at ease in any situation.) so he can come along to the pre wedding consultations and break the ice, although someone has to look after the children so perhaps it's just a pipe dream anyway.

I'm coming on leaps and bounds with myself, my OH has really noticed the difference. A few months ago I hated walking into shops to even buy things and last week we forgot the baby wipes and my son had an ice cream I nipped in the shop and asked for a napkin...it's such a small stupid thing but I would of asked my OH to do it or just got him back to the car a few months ago and I've put myself in situations that I wouldn't of done for anything else (talking on the phone, meeting customers etc) I think I just accepted when I started that if I wanted to be successful I have to be contactable.

A Bride wanted a wedding in Birmingham but lives near me she wanted to pay by cash in the post (ahh..!) so I said I would pick it up and have a chat with her which I could of just not offered to do...

+ I've hopefully got a booking for 30th Dec which is amazing because I wasn't going to take a wedding in Dec because my main business will be so busy but actually, I'll be closed from around 20th to the new year...so it's such perfect timing but it seems to good to be true ATM I am sending out contracts today so hopefully will get deposit to confirm shortly!!

As for moving house which I've mentioned before which we were saving for, I'm going to push it forward a year as again I want to focus on getting this business off the ground and I've just worked out I need around £5k for just the basics. (and I've already spent around £2k on what I have now :/)

I'll see how it goes. The house sale of OH's parents is going through should be over next two weeks so that will be £400 back our way which will go into savings, the business account is sitting around £1k which is the float so just got to bring the emergency funds back to £1k and I think once we have the lump sum back we'll be more or less their... it's all coming together, just got to cross my fingers nothing goes wrong!! :/

P.s My OH is in the plant hire business he thinks he knows who you are on about, everyone knows each other in that business it's ridiculous!
People don't know what they want until you show them.

Kaya, I really admire your decision to push ahead in such a creative business. And thinking about it, there's another plus for you in that area, which I realised when you said about the bad photographer having photos of bums and boobs. A lot of the photos nowadays are of the wedding prep - and to have a woman, a young, experienced woman taking those photos, is a huge plus, a real selling point for you. You sound like you're going to be a roaring success at this, I'm really pleased for you :)

Kay - how lovely to hear that things are going so well for you. You deserve it, you've worked hard. And wouldn't it be fab if you and your husband could work together sometimes.

Interesting that your OH knows the young man I talked about the other day. It's a small world isn't it.......yes they all know each other or at least about each other.

Looks like Ive had a little late surge this month, a clock and some coins have sold. When decluttering yesterday I also found a another cache of foreign currency. Honestly these hoarders will be the death of me.......but at least they have kept me supplied with stuff to sell because I have not been buying stock in recent months.

On a totally unrelated subject...I have lost 8.5lbs in a fortnight, I'm so pleased......still got a way to go but it's a start. I'm feeling better already, my knees don't ache quite so much and my tummy is looking nice and flat.

karma - the slug saga continues..... I forgot to bring in my potted chrysanths ......the slugs have decimated them. I'm going to have to give up and throw the remains away.

I have been trawling the charity shops for holiday clothes. I have picked up some lovely things. Pretty tops for £2.50 each, really good makes, less than the price of a latte. Ive just about replenished my summer wardrobe for around £50.

My son has just received his insurance quote for both of us. We have two cars and we are both insured to drive each car for convenience. His new quote is a whopping £1200, so he is currently trying to,shop around. Nothing has changed, we both have an extra years NCD - how on earth they can justify such huge price rises.

    More slugs

What I'm finally, finally learning is that it's all very well keeping the garden "natural", but that means homes for billions of slugs and snails. Not going to happen any more! I doubt I'll clear everything before the coming winter, but with all the mulch I've been able to put down, things will be different next year :)

I've spent the morning adding to my profile on goodreads - I found my kindle book on there by accident :o I didn't put it up there, but even so, two people had put it on their "shelves" - so I've rounded things out, linked up to the blog, put some related books in, that sort of thing. Took much longer than I thought, of course, this stuff always does, but it spreads the word. This is my last "setting up structure" week before I get into the rhythm of writing.

I also need to do pinterest for the kindle & blog, and facebook for the cats, then follow up people who commented on my old free blogs, and make sure they know I've moved.

Oh, and then the real stuff begins - adsense, etc  terrifying :rotfl:

I think I need to celebrate with a cup of coffee now.

ETA - LL! Your weight loss is fantastic, well done!

Crikey, karma - you are doing well with all this "techy" stuff. Makes me feel like an old dinosaur....I really need to get with the programme.....

Ds2 has managed to shave off £450 off the car insurance, good lad that he is. Shows you it really does pay you to shop around.

    A true story.....yes another one......:D

My late husband was a business development manager.

At one point, way back in the 80s before the advent of the Internet and before he went SE, he worked for a very large government body, heading up their insurance dept.

One day he said - what is really needed is a quick and easy way for ordinary people to compare insurance quotes without having to use a broker........

just think I could have been Mrs Confused.dot.com if he had taken time out to develop his idea.......

I often used to torment him for missing out on that one.......:rotfl: he would just smile.

I wonder how many of us have done something similar. How many of us have failed to develop an idea only to see it come to fruition a few years later.

I was once eating dinner with a friend way back in the early 70s. It was ok but boring. We sat and idly discussed what kind of restaurants we would like to open .....

We came up with a themed restaurant linked to pop stars and movie stars.

Jump to the 80,s and LO and behold we got Planet Hollywood, TGIF etc.

    Ah well.....;)

I'm not sure which of us is older, but I know there's less than 18 months in it :D and frankly, I'm only doing it because I don't have *physical* energy :o

This afternoon, I started on the facebook page for the cats - I started it up ages ago, well before I knew what I was doing :rotfl: and since then I've spent a happy afternoon (!) merging the two folders of cat photos I have, each with at least 20 sub-folders  I don't like to take that long to do it, but I have quite a logical mind about filing and things, and unless I'm happy with it, I *know* I won't use it :D so thats what I needed to do.

I'm pleased, I must say - didn't think I'd get two done today. The fb thing needs more photos, and a new cover photo, but its a great start this afternoon.

Karma - you are doing so well with your Facebook stuff - I am useless.

I just had to phone Virgin again because I could not access my online account. I really am useless at that kind of thing - but hey I'm still trying......

Anyhoo ive just done my month end figures. Ouch !!

Yes it is that bad. didn't make my savings target and have spent a small fortune, the holiday, some clothes, decorating materials etc......

Next month will be a heavy month too, car insurance, car service and I really must get those tyres sorted out, plus a couple of birthdays.

So.......I am going to have to knuckle down and start selling.

I am sooooo not in the mood but needs must. ;)

Hope you are all well and making lots of money.
