    Tink-
Sorry you went (and continue to) go through all of that!

We have done the same with regards to not speaking about things and keeping going.
There are a few of us that know the whole story as if someone comes out with specifics no one else should know it will hopefully point us in the direction of the person responsible.

But it is driving people crazy not knowing you are completely right, I wanted to get out there and shout the truth, but my husband said I do not care, the people who know me and my character know I would not have done it, the rest can think and say what they want. So I have kept my mouth shut :D

Some of the rumours going around about things are actually really funny, one of them I laughed so hard at! I was thinking where on earth did you even get that from.

Tell you ex MIL to jog on ( I have no time at the moment for the niceties in life), even if all what she said was true, so what. The only person who can change those is your ex...

That wasn't the book title, but I may change my mind it does have a good ring to it :rotfl:
Thank you for your kind wishes.

    Karma
    Thanks for you kind words.

We are making the most of husbands time off and looking for another business.
As well as spending some quality time together and him catching up with some sleep, and just generally chilling out after working like a mad one for the last few years.

As its the 1st of a new month how did we all get on with our goals?

    Mine
Save 70% of total income- Achieved
Learn matched betting and give it a trial- Achieved though not done any for the last few weeks
Get back on low carbing- started off well but its a big fat fail ATM
Check gas and electricity and switch if needed- Another fail

I will carry forward my unachieved ones, and will need to have a think about some additional ones to add. Its a bit hard to plan at the moment with everything going on as there is lots we cant control so hard to make plans.

    Minxy, Tink

Sorry to hear your woes, but just keep doing what you are doing, head down and plough on.

Sometimes you just have to weather the storms, life is never plain sailing.

And Tink, you are so right it's amazing how a large group of friends turns into a small group when you need them most.

On the positive side you do get to know who your real friends are, who you can trust. the same with family too im afraid.

those fairweather friends - well I just jettisoned them although realistically they deserted me, family it's a bit harder because you do have to maintain contact I suppose. Now I'm perfectly civil and pleasant but I just keep them at arms length.

I don't feel even remotely guilty, they let me down in my time of
need. I just focus on the people I know I can trust.

You have both done amazingly well under the most trying of circumstances, so gove yourselves a huge pat on the back.

You've kept your dignity and pride and held your heads high, and haven't stooped down to their level.

Forget your detractors, just keep Going and show them what you are made of.

Minxy - Well done on achieving your goals last month, despite all your woes. That's good going.

Well now, I managed my £1k savings so very pleased.

Ive just done my month end accounts and projections for August. Ive set a target for £500 savings, will be tight but I might just scrape by. Ive just had to pay the builder £400 for the last few bits and bobs and last week I spent £100 on paint and decorating materials, plus two birthdays this month.

September will be car service, car insurance and I have still not bought those two tyres yet, so two heavy months ahead.:(

This month I doubt that i will have much time for moneymaking because we will be completing on my parents cottage so I'm going to be busy. Sorted and shifted a load of stuff yesterday., so not too much left now.

I have also been sorting out some of my treasures for the auction house, so will try and get some valuations this month and hopefully put some things into the next sale,

a really good week last week, kitchen and lounge now finished and looking pretty good, garden looking better. Gave up with the veggieies, the slugs have had a feast so ive dug up what was left and replaced them with some pretty shrubs and perennials.

Im going to have a few days break whilst I sort out dads legal stuff and then start the dining room next.

Healthy eating going well (ish). Sleeping better and starting to feel more like my old self.

    Onwards and upwards.....

I'm now in the position that I can see an end to the debts but I'm itching to get moving on making more money rather than just surviving now.
I also need to decide on my next career move as it's becoming more and more apparent my decorating expiry date will be sooner rather than later

Tink, you really sound like you're over the hump now, your energy's back, and you're right, this is the time to be thinking of your next move :) I look forward to hearing what you decide :)

Sorry to hear of everyone's troubles but it sounds like things are working out and will slowly be a thing of the past.

Not much to update, I have taken a loan out of my Dad. Not something I particularly wanted to do but the closer these jobs came up the more I was worried about not having back up equipment, so took a loan out of £1,500 so far spent around £1,000 buying a new camera (with two memory card slots so you can put the photos to two cards in case of breakages) and batteries and memory cards to go with it... I think I may just save the rest until the below is over with just in case but it will most likey go towards some flash equipment which is sorely needed but given my low prices is certainly not a requirement at this stage.

Also lent (ironically) another £200 to the in laws, my problem is he told us it was for one thing, then my OH mentioned it to his Mum and soon after we get a text of FIL saying he'll use any left over for something else...but he only needed about £100 for the original problem so basically I think he lied a bit and thought better to come clean now rather then us finding out later how much the job was... honestly money just causes problems but we will get it back as long as the house sale doesn't fall through so potatoes patatoes or what ever it is haha
People don't know what they want until you show them.
  • The two final hurdles before we actually stick a formal offer in (our verbal one is apparently acceptable, but we're in Scotland, so once a formal offer's concluded, you've bought it) are making sure we can get the money (it's not mortgageable in its current state) and ensuring there's nothing nasty lurking in the legals (crofting law is a minefield and needs a specialist solicitor). If we can jump both those, we're full steam ahead!

Money secured, subject to a couple of signatures and the sale of some shares. Solicitor will look at it next week :)

Caz - fingers crossed. Sounds like you're getting there.

Did a drive by of a property today, rang the EA for a viewing. She told me she couldn't make an appt because......."the system is down"

Never had that when I was an EA using a desk diary and biro.......:rotfl:

Have now signed contracts on dads house aNd arranged with charity shop to clear the big stuff. Nearly there, then perhaps I can get on with my own life.......;)

My frugal challenge is going well. Managed to hit M&S at the right time for YS bargains, so we are all stocked up again so hopefully another low spend on groceries this month.

Other than that no real news. Anniversary of OHs death next Monday - 10th so just want to,get through that and then take it from there.
