I know this is petty but... it's BOUGHT not BROUGHT!

Has anyone noticed how many newsreaders and people who should know better can't pronounce 'sixth', which always comes out as 'sickth'....?0

I'll bite - what use would you put one or the other to that makes a difference....?0 -
If I was uninterested in what you had to say Googler, then I'd not bother replying to it as it was of no interest to me. If I were to be disinterested, then I'd have no vested intersst in it - ie, I'd be impartial. A big difference: one would hope referees are always disinterested in the result of the matches at which they officiate, but they wouldn't be doing thier job too well if they were uninterested!
Like I say, it's a useful distinction, but one that I fear is on the verge of extinction.
And hello MTG - we must stop meeting like this. Is there a forum that specialises in steel and syntax?0 -

Something I have been seeing a lot of recently is the use of "wondering" instead of "wandering".
That's interesting as I often see 'wandering' instead of 'wondering'.
One that drives me potty in speech (but I have also seen written recently) is marshmellow. I almost deleted the person who had written it! :mad:2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]
2012: [STRIKE]Start renovating new house (aka open enormous can of worms)[/STRIKE] _pale_
2013: [STRIKE]Lose weight[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]get fit[/STRIKE] and FINISH THE HOUSE!
