Much as I hate to be pedantic (I've seen what it can do to some people!), I am compelled to point out that 'spesial' is in fact spelling error, not a grammatical one.

    Sorry.

But a spelling mistake that has passed through the hands of many an educated person and printer before it was put on display.

If\When enough people use it like that, then it is correct usage. Unlike French, English is defined by the people who use it. The 'correct' word is the one that's in most common use. If you don't believe me, whay do you understand by the phrase 'beg the question'? )

What rot!! If that's the case, then when people write your instead of you're is also acceptable then is it? No, of course not. Try looking up brought and bought in a dictionary. See the difference. I went to the shops and bought a dress this morning, and then brought it home. BIG difference.

No, you brought a dress and brang it home :p Seriously though, although that upsets me just as much as the OP, I wonder if you can stop the evolution of language, especially in this age of instant global communication? Fast forward a couple of hundred years (if you dare) and I bet most of the bugbears cited in this thread will have become standard English :(

If\When enough people start using brought and bought interchangeably, they'll change the dictionaries. I'm sorry, but that's just how English works; see my earlier examples of how the OED now includes 'lol' and how 'begging the question' now generally means 'raising the question' and not 'circular reasoning' as it used to.

The other thing here is that you're mixing up word usage (which evolves fast) with punctuation (which takes much longer to evolve). Looking at the latter, people now don't use as many commas as they used to (for example), and the invention of the semi-colon is well documented. People have also been trying (and usually failing) to invent new punctuation since forever, just whether the sarcasm mark, or the interrobang - one which I really wish had gained acceptance. Only emoticons seem to have gained any traction though.

Shouldn't that be "an educated person" and not "a educated person". I think phonetic rules apply.
    It's someone else's fault.

Haha. This thread makes me chuckle! It's hard to understand how so many people, in a large chain such as Tescos could have missed such a big mistake! I understand spelling errors and typos on forums are going to happen but in shops?!

That Tesco sign has just made my day!

Something I have been seeing a lot of recently is the use of "wondering" instead of "wandering".

I have some fellow Facebookers with whom I regularly exchange PM's about grammar and spelling we see on a status or comment that is driving us quietly potty!
