Hello all.
I am mulling over a few things at the moment - some regarding life and some - well all of those are also regarding money. After all, money does make a difference when we are deciding what to do. Show the me the millionaire who sells their old trainers on ebay? If there are some, they will be few and far between, and who can blame them.
If we had a choice we would all be like to do what we wanted when we wanted in the style we wanted to.
However cloth cut and all that, and back to reality. I work full time, I know I earn ok. My pension isnt going to keep me in a decent style really so I need to be secure and debt free with a few investments and some property.
This is what I need to keep in mind when people I know are buying new builds, brand new cars, and taking foreign holidays a few times a year.
There is of course a balance to life and I dont want to not live because I am sending all my cash to my family when I die. I just want some security and a lasting legacy of security for my children once I do go.
There is a stark contrast in my own family, as regards attitudes to money. My parents - always available for an interest free loan - have a mortgage free house, which is in great nick in a desireable area. They drive a decent enough car, and have investments and insurances in place.
My husbands parents have recently come into some money and have gone a bit mad. They have bought three foreign holidays - at the luxury end of the market and are on the first one now, and have ordered a brand new car, they live in a nice area but recently re mortgaged.
They have no provision so I am having to think ahead that at the point they need care we will need to make sure we have the finance to take care of them.
However, today myself and my husband have purchased some sharematch shares. We make sure we invest a little tiny bit so we dont miss the opportunity.
My next focus is going to be P2P. Purely because its finished soon as well as being pricey. With luck I can clear an extra 250 in the next month and shift it altogether the month after.
As I travelled with work on monday, I have claimed the overtime as cash. I normally take the time, but I think I will alternate, one lot of cash one lot of time, just to get a bit extra.
I went to hospital yesterday about a lump in my neck. Knew my secret adams apple would catch me out!! haha I am not good looking enough to be a tranny.
I am not talking about it at the moment - its a bit scary but I will sort it. I am not bullet proof but I am armour plated!
So tonight I will post ebay, list ebay and carry on with the thrift I need to carry on with. At the end of the day whats important is security and being able to take care of you and yours.
Looking forward to more debt busting antics.
I will look in on everyones diaries this afternoon, I am busy now til 2 pm ish when I shall have my next break and nose about.
Hope everyone is ok. xxTrying to shift that debt!0 -
Hi Skint

Re your neck - my DH has one on the side (not adam's apple) and it turned out to ne gristle for want of the medical turn.

Todays fun is working things out and pondering how best to go on.
I have worked out that I can at least pay another 150 onto my P2P which means if I do the same next month it should be clear. If my solicitors dont want payments to start yet this could be as high as 250 and it wont be so hevty to clear next month.
Then my next attention will be Amex where my ebay monies will go as well as the 100 a month I am paying - getting rid of it slowly but surely - increasing my overpayments to my largest balance which is TFS (8890) by 40 a month, my highest interest one by 100 a month and my smallest balance (for those quick wins we love so much) by 20 a month.
However following paying off P2P it will be a while before my next debt is repaid but I will do a debt review at the end of December and see what the crack is.Trying to shift that debt!0 -
Mortgage has been offered this is amazing and with a high street lender go me !!
However cant do the extension for 6 months. Boo.
This isnt a deal breaker to us, so we have plans, we have written permission, we have plans drawn, just need to pay debts and save cash a little to get more work done!Trying to shift that debt!0 -
Well today is the morning after the night before. This could be a lengthy post if I get my talking tackle on.
1. I was away with work on monday and have decided to take the time I was over as overtime. Cos I am a good girl. So this will mean I get an extra 70 pounds this month. I am going to alternate when I travel between claiming TOIL and claiming money.
2. My son is so much happier with his new childminder. He doesnt cry on a morning. This is costing us so much less a month and with the assistance of childcare vouchers this is even better.
3. I have introduced my husband thanks to DF2012 for this - to a writing website. He can wax lyrical - much like Stephen Fry, so I say let him be paid for what our ears are subjected to.
4. Mortgage has been agreed approved and rubber stamped. So house ownership and a saving of 200 a month, everything in place for an extension in the new year. I am struggling to see the negatives in this maybe the wait for the extension...! In the meantime we can do some stuff, source the kitchen - will probably buy it in January sales, perhaps an ex display one as we have a small space to fill.... we can get prices and maybe muster the money to have our old parkray and fireplace updated - will need a better fire to drive more radiators and burn more economically therefore saving money. A dual fuel burner which will burn bits of wood will be good.
5. Need a pre christmas declutter and ebay listing time. This is ideal as its in the pre christmas lull. Also need to keep a little cash to one side for christmas and also keep an eye out for any bargains.
Into the weekend, batch cooking and another party!!Trying to shift that debt!0
