We have a 3 1/2 yr old,2 yr old and 8 month old in the house~the older two are very much into COLOUR:rolleyes: Whereas I LOVE to/HAVE to have things co-ordinated
We have had the builders in for the past 3 weeks and get our house back THIS WEEKEND!!!!:D

So this weekend is our full blown xmas extravaganza:cool: As a compromise to keep the family happy......we have bought a 3ft pink tree(£3 something from tescos) with pink heart lights and various shiny decs for the girls bedroom,my 3 1/2 yr old son a 3ft value green tree(£2.87 tescos) with various coloured decorations that he chose from the poundshop. Then we have a 4 foot fibre optic in the playroom which is going to be covered in their own homemade decs made from FAB kits bought in the red cross focus sale for a couple of quid:rolleyes:A billion santas/snowmen/glitter paintings/suncatchers etc etc... THEN we have our 7 foot fabby tree in the living room where EVERYTHING co-ordinates and ONLY I decorate:p It is silver, white, purple and lilac this year. Each person getting the main presents(DS,DD1,DD2,Nanny,DH and me)get a different coloured wrapping paper on their gifts to co-ordinate~one silver, one white, one purple, one lighter purple, one lilac, one lilac and silver!! This also makes finding whose presents are whose FAR easier:T We even co-ordinate ALL our outfits on xmas day~the photos look great!Extreme I know and I could go on and tell more!!....:o We also have an electrician coming to put up white icicles around our house in a V around the fascia as a favour...no colour thanks!!ALTHOUGH there are mental coloured rope lights around the kids play house(in the garden out of sight!!!!;) Ok so I'm thinking a lot of you must be thinking I should be sectioned about now!!!!:rotfl: New Year~New Start!!

It is beginning to sound like I am one of the few folk left about that only have ONE christmas tree!!!!:xmastree:
My 7ft tree (bought because of the height of the ceiling and window) has no tinsel, only a few strings of red and gold beads and white lights. The baubles are all Winnie the Pooh and friends mini figures, and loads of different Santas that I got in the sale in WH Smith a few years ago, and a couple of comedy santas in the surf that I got on hols in San Diego 2 years ago! The final touches are a small glittery santa (bit of a theme here?) that I put inside a small stocking to hang - I have had these since I was little - and some knitted decorations that OHs late mum knitted many years ago.
My Harrods baubles (I have one for my nephews birth year and one for neices birth year) havent gone on the tree this year as the dogs will be in the sitting room for xmas morning to get their massive hide bones that Santa will be bringing them (courtesy of £4 each in Asda - a great deal!)."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!
Murphy's NMPC Memb No 239! Dippychick's De-clutter club Member No 6! - onto room no 2!
My Avatar? Arnie and Casey, proud parents to Storm and Tsu born 19/01/2009!!! - both now in new homes and called Murron and Burger!0 -

Wellllll...........:D
I've always had a real tree with coordinated decs and spent a great deal of time on making them look perfect. A couple of years ago I saw an expensive fake tree with beautiful deep red and gold decs and coaxed hubby into buying it for us. With white lights and delicate crystal, velvet and glass decs I was pretty smug with the set up.
Last year I put the tree up and looked at it.
It did nothing for me at all. It just didn't lift my heart, it looked so cold, generic and lifeless.
This year I've gone out and bought 120 multi-coloured lights and we have decided to start a new tradition where each one of us buys one special decoration each year to hang on the tree. These decorations won't match, nor will they be bulk bought. They will accumulate over the years until we have a gloriously UN-coordinated tree with every decoration meaning something special to us.

My home is netural through out, all the walls are cream or white. Pale oak wood (on the floors, kitchen cabinets, living room furniture, dining table ECT). Tiles are white (bathroom) or cream (kitchen). Chrome door handles, electric boxes, curtain rails, light fittings ECT.
I have an oversized rasberry red linen headboard, specially made & it's the ONLY bit of colour in my home.
If I were prime minister I would outlaw ALL xmas lights except white NON-flashing ones & also outlaw anything except those on the outside of peoples homes.
I like green garland type of decorations, with brown fir-cones in them. Green trees with brown bauballs & white lights. I like the sweedish lights for front windows.
I HATE any decs that hang off ceilings :-( or spray fluff sprayed on windows :-(
 :T same here :rotfl:
i do *allow* colour in our home though kitchen ,kids bedrooms ( where they are allowed xmas tack
) but the living areas / hall / stairs / landing / our bedroom are as you described and i love it
probably not as tidy as yours ! with 2 sons aged 10 and 4 but i love the neutral look :beer:0 -
my trees and decorations are definatly not colour cordinated i think we have every colour in the rainbow on the tree lol but it does look nice and reminds me of my own childhood although hubby has decorarted the fire place different this year as i normally do it and just fill with santas and snowmen whereas hubby has done it a little smarter and my santas have moved to the kitchen but they seem happy there lol.0

I do colour co-ordinate, but only the Christmas tree - its blue and silver with static white lights and it looks very stylish, even if I do say so myself

Wrapping paper for the adult presents are always plain and it doesn't matter what colour it is. It also means that if I have any left over then I can use it for birthday presents during the following year! Wrapping paper for all the childrens presents is always something bright and colourful.
I get all my Christmas cards from a charity shop and as long as I like the design, then I'll buy it!

Colour coordinated here too. Pale blue and silver on the tree and a matching mantle swag, I refuse to put anymore decorations up then these two items and a door wreath and all lights have to be clear. The kidz (I have three) are allowed to decorate their rooms anyway they like providing they keep their doors shut:rotfl: and they usually look like Las Vagas but not as classy!:DLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0
