Who colour co-ordinates their tree?

I visited a relation on the weekend who had two trees both were colour co-ordinated with their room colours. I admired them and was told its now considered very old fashioned to have a multi coloured tree. I kept quiet at this point as I must be really old fashioned then :D

When we got married my mother gave me all her trimmings so our tree has lovely memories from my childhood and is very special. I buy a couple each year to add to the memories for my DD's. I couldn't imagine getting rid off them just so it all matched.

So which of us are trendy or old fashioned? ;)

  • I HAVE to colour co-ordinate xmas decs. This includes the tree (this year red and gold), the wrapping paper, and any other decs around the house. I even extend this to daughters bedroom, as her room is pink/purple so are all her tree decs and lights. I can't stand it when its all differenct colours- blame my parents when I was a kid, they just put loads of tacky coloured stuff everywhere. Oh, kitchen has to be co-ordinated aswel, coz there is no tree, decs have to match colour of walls and tablecloth/napkins/runner.

You all must think I'm mad:o

    Its all personal choice !!!

We have gold and cream deccys on our tree...to match our room..but mum has also go us having gold and cream, as if we change the carpet/couch - we will still be able to use them - apart from if the room was wholly white!!

We used to have all the old stuff on there which is lovely cos of the memories, dont know where they went though??

We have robins on our tree - my nanas fave bird so its like shes looking over us...

definatly up to the individual! - you enjoy your tree!!! :rotfl:

When we were little we were allowed to do the tree with mum so it ended up having lights baubles beads tinsel and angel hair on it! which looking back must have looked disasterous! and mum and dad never changed it! ...
Now i do the tree when the little ones are in bed, and i colour co-ordinate this year its white lights and purple lilac and silver baubles with a very little purple and silver angel hair! ...
When the kids do help i wait until they are in bed and then redo it ! ....
as for wrapping paper the two girls have got purple lilac and silver with matching bows etc, but one is plain pattered and the other has bears on it .. my little boys paper is blue and very bright! ...

Are there anywhere you can get ceiling decs to match tree colours all i can seem to find are the old fashion bright green red etc ....
Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!
  • I'm with you on this tazzababe, EVERYTHING has to match... But this isn't just at Christmas, I'm like this all year round... Even mine and bf PJ's have to be grey so they match whichever room we are in!!!

Family and friends know that presents must be wrapped in black, white or silver and only cards in this colour are displayed...

I'm not ungreatful for anything, and most people know what I'm like, and accept it... I'm just VERY co-ordinated and a little obsessive!

It's not cost me anymore money as I've had my own place for 3 years, used the same tree and decs since I bought them for my first Christmas here

Oh yes, might be worth to know we have no children yet so no-one is missing out on anything... We're using the oppotunity to be minimalistic!!!

I managed to find some in my local pound shop, red/gold, cream/gold, pink/lilac. The only ones I couldn't find where aubergine/gold- which really peed me off last year:mad:

Oh you have me all intrigued now I want to see all your lovely trees!

If I started a thread for us to post pictures of our decs, would anyone be interested or capable in my case :D
  • Yes, colour co-ordinated for us too. Red and silver at the moment.

Boyfriend can't understand why. Boy, is he in for a big surpise when he moves in with me.

  • I used to colour co-ordinate the tree before we had kids but now they help decorate it with all sorts of decorations. Although I don't like it to look naff, christmas is for the kids and they should be able to help decorate the tree and add their own decs.
    now mum of 4!!!

    Can't bear matching trees!

I'm an OS tree type girl - with lots of hand me downs and home-made sentimental decorations. A complete mixture of stuff and it looks wonderful every year. :-)
