Yes I had a brainwave the other day...I remembered a friend of mine used to own a salon but having sold it on still worked there...I popped in to see her as I knew she was a good hairdresser and asked if she'd do my hair...she's done a brilliant job and I was charged the full price for the salon..which at that price I didn't mind..£35 is fab...it is not a good looking salon a bit dated...but she's a good hairdresser..and I didn't go for the decor..anyway...I used to go to some really glamorous salons...so maybe I was paying for there decorating!!!...I've learnt from that and by the way the place was fully booked...so if it doesn't look that great from outside just have a look at the people coming out and thaer styles ...you may be surprised0

A true Money Saver there Taxi.
Yes, I went to Slimming World and was a little shocked at what I tipped the scales at, anyway, it was quite a busy class and the 'leader' was very nice.
So, I am now alternating between MSE and Slimming World sites.
I think after I have weighed in next week, i will include it in my sig.
Your £2 coin collection is building nicely....what's it going to be used for?Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Hi whatatwit....and everyone else...good luck with slimming world and it's great that you're going to add it to your sig next week..well done:T :T :T
Now funny you should ask about my £2 collection....it was up to £76 today so I added another £4 of change...and paid £80 off my halifax CC...:j :j :j :j :j
I figured that as I didn't have a plan for the £2 coins..I would save them all month(but these were only the ones from new year..so hope to get loads each month)...along with my cig money...and pay them all off my halifax CC each month ...I know it's 0% but it feels good seeing the balance go down..I also have a DD set up for minimum payment on it...so will probably manage to clear this in a few months..
Quite pleased with myself as when I opened this account in Nov...it stood at £2,750...it is now at £1,919...not bad for a couple of months....£831 paid off:j :j :j
I think the min is £40 odd this month so that will have to come off....
There won't be much progress now for the next month because of the holiday but I'm hoping to come back with some money from that so will pay that off also!!
While I'm away all the bills are DD so nothing will be missed and Morgan Stanley is set up to pay the full amount....probably about £2000 to be paid out all together while we're away and I have just over £1000 in there so will end up in the overdraft while away but should only take a couple of weeks to sort out when we get back...just one of those things as I didn't start being DF until the end of Oct...so I should be happy really;)0 -
Evening taxi. You sound like you have everything well under control.
Wow look at that Halifax total, that will be down under £1900 very soon and it only feels like 5 seconds ago that it was over £2000. So you are so right to pay off what you can because that total will tumble before your eyes and will keep hitting those "00" milestones if you know what I mean....2000 becomes 1900...becomes 1800 etc etc.
Do you feel like you have come a long way in just under 3 months? I think you have!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Hi Lookingahead...it feels great as I know the total will be under £1900 when I get back from holiday as there's a payment of £40 odd to come out by DD...just going to keep chipping away at them so am quite proud of myself...
Thinking about it I have come a long way in 3 months...£800 OD gone and £831 off CC plus bits off other CCs(min payments)...£1000 + in bank and just under £300 in savings...not bad ,eh!!!
I know I'm going to manage this as the savings are cummulative over the year...last DD for gym !st march..so extra £46 p/m then...don't pay council tax for 2 months so that's another £172 towards debt...can really get into saving big style when I get back ...can do loads of thinking while I'm away...going to miss you lot!!!
A whole month without you all...0 -
A whole month without us! lol - only joking you'll LOVE it
You've done SOOOOO well and you are very determined. From what I "see" so far it's like you are totally 'gripped' and have had a complete mindset change about money.
If ever you feel like you're falling off the wagon, re-read your diary and get back on here for support because I tell you, I don't mean to be negative I really don't but it's a long journey and sometimes it can take it's toll.
At those times you need more support than ever and a reminder of what you can achieve and what there is to look forward to when that lovely debt free date arrives :smileyhea
I don't know why I am saying this though! You're so positive & determined, I think maybe I just really really want to see you sustain this....but I know it's a long hard slog.
Just a re-affirmation perhaps that your DFW buddies are here for you whenever/ if ever you need some extra encouragement!
God I waffle don't I? Hope that made sense and wasn't off on a tangent or sounding like a doom merchant!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Evening everyone...hope you are all well:o
Well not much to report today...as nothing much happening...had a NSD as hubby and I took a walk into town....he paid for breakfast..a full cooked english...yummy:T :T :T
The days are dragging at the moment as I just don't want to be here in this horrid weather:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: roll on thursday!!!...though had a shock earlier..the travel agent phoned to say that our hotel had been changed:mad:   only 5 days to go that's cheeky...I booked 10 months ago...couldn't get a straight answer out of them as to why..they just said there was a problem with the hotel...if it was overbooked and I find it still open when I get there...then they will have some serious answering to do:o
Just escaped the cleaning...I've shredded loads of papers and sorted loads of papers out...it's took me 3 hours:eek:
So tommorrow my plans are to walk to the travel agents and pick a brochure up to look at this hotel..then come home and get the house cleaned from top to bottom..not looking forward to that..also got a big pile of washing...that'll keep me out of mischief for a while!!!0
